Co-educational
We are delighted to welcome both boys and girls for enrolment this September 2026. This is a most welcome change and something we have campaigned for with our patron, The Archdiosese of Dublin, for the past four years. Following overwhelming consensus from our staff and parent body we believe this will be a positive step for St Brigid's in offering high quality education.
Now enroling
As part of the process in becoming co-educational we are directed by our patron to enter into a common enrolment policy with St Brigid's Boys NS Killester. We will also be changing our name from St Brigid's Girls' National School to St Brigid's Road National School! We will be updating our branding and changing our logo in consultation with the student council. We are asking parents to consult with the PA if they have suggestions/ideas for this.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent teacher meetings (PTMs) will take place this month on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th January. Slots will be released on Tuesday 13th on Aladdin Connect to parents with siblings in the school and to all others on Wednesday 14th. Please make sure to book a slot to meet with your daughter's class teacher.
School will finish at the slightly earlier time of 2pm on Wednesday 28th January and Thursday 29th January for students in 1st-6th class.
Students receiving School Support Plus will have their meetings scheduled individually with the class and special education teachers over the next few weeks.

Just to say a special word of thanks to all of those involved in our successful open day before Christmas. It was such a wonderful occassion! Thank you to the teachers, SNAs and ancillary staff for their incredible creativity and initiative and for working so hard to show the school in such a great light! A special thank you to our fantastic 5th and 6th class students who showed prospective parents and students around the school! You were outstanding, we are so proud of you!
Wellbeing
Wellbeing week
We’re looking forward to Wellbeing Week, which will take place during the week of January 26th. A range of fun and mindful activities are planned across the school, including a whole-school art competition, yoga sessions, and plenty of different sports.
Motus
Sixth class students are taking part in an emotional intelligence workshop with Motus this week. The girls are learning all about how to take care of their mental health and cultivate a pro-social mental health environment. Thank you to the PA for funding this important workshop.
Motus are facilitating a follow up webinar for 6th class parents which will take place on Wednesday 28th January at 7pm. Please find link to the webinar below:
percussion
In the spirit of wellbieng and leveraging the natural human ability to perceive and create patterns, we have introduced a six week rhythm programme to all students in first to third class and in our special class. In collaboration with the Irish Institute of Music & Song, students will learn how to play our wonderful traditional instrument- the bodhrán- while learning about percussion and rhythm over the next six weeks. At the end of the workshops we hope to have a "middle school" performance ready for Seachtain na Gaeilge! Watch this space!
Smartphone Free Pledge
Children's use of SmartPhones, in particular their use of social media is very topical at the moment. In February, we will be running our Internet Safety Week whereby students will be learning about smartphones and technology and their respective advantages and disadvantages. With sacraments coming up we'd like to take this opportunity to encourage parents to be part of St Brigid's Smartphone Free pledge in primary school by signing the form below:

This term, some of our 1st to 5th classes are diving into a range of exciting Junior Achievement Programmes! These include exploring ways to care for our planet, learning about families and communities, discovering coding and digital skills to experimenting with science and engineering. It’s wonderful to see students engaged and enjoying hands-on learning every day!
All Things Active
cycling
5th Class have started the Cycle Right programme for 6 weeks. They are learning all about cycling safely on the road- from wearing helmets correctly to signalling and sharing the road responsibly. The pupils are really enjoying putting their new skills into practice and growing more confident on their bikes each week.
swimming
Swimming in St Brigid's has been very successful this year with the addition of Ms Costello's class & Ms Furey's class. Thank you to Dublin City Council and Swim Ireland for these super opportunities.
handball
Our school is delighted to be taking part in the Olympic Handball Ireland Tournament once again this year. Our 3rd and 4th class team will compete on the 26th of January at the Sport Ireland Campus National Indoor Arena. Our senior girls got to the final the last time so let's wish for the same outcome from our junior team! Go Brigid's! 💪
hockey afterschool's club
We are so thrilled with the introduction of Hockey Club to our afterschools schedule, run by Ms Roe. Hockey Ireland very kindly donated a set of plastic sticks and hockey balls to the school for free! Many of the secondary schools in our community have great hockey teams so it's lovely that our students can avail of the opportunity to engage in this sport if they wish! Watch out Green Army!
