Term 2b, week 4

Oracy
On Thursday, we had some special visitors into school to see how great we all our with our oracy skills. To demonstrate this, the class completed a discussion about if tourism has a positive impact on Greece - there were lots of interesting points raised!
English: Report writing
We started our new English topic by looking at different newspaper articles and identifying the different key features of a chronological report.
The next lesson, we focused on identifying the 5 W’s in a report. We then used the story of Theseus and the Minotaur to start our own newspaper report.
Red Start
On Wednesday, the class had a visit from Red Start. This is a fantastic charity that helps educate children about money and worked perfectly with our PSHE topic of economic well being. They completed lots of different activities, such as having a budget and going to the supermarket to buy the right food for cooking a meal.
Art: Ancient Greek vase
On Thursday afternoon, the class got the opportunity to make their own ancient Greek vase. We all followed the same instructions, but each one is still unique in its own way. We will wait for these to dry, and then we can paint them with our design designs.
Card making
On Friday afternoon the class made some lovely cards for Mother’s Day to give to a female they look up to and who cares for them. It was a great way to end the week.
Science club
This week in science club we learnt all about different animal teeth and how they are adapted to the food each animal eats. We spent a lot of the time categorising different animals to see if they are omnivores, carnivores or herbivores based off their teeth. We even got to touch and look at real animal teeth!
