I have been part of the Silvermine Art Center community since 2001, beginning with painting and sculpture courses that helped me grow as an artist. In time, I was honored to be accepted as a Silvermine Guild member and have shown my work in several Guild exhibitions, including the A-ONE Exhibition. Silvermine has been more than just a place to exhibit—it has been a steady source of inspiration, encouragement, and connection since my art school days and continues to support my journey as an artist.
Brown lives and works in Connecticut, where she maintains an active studio practice in painting, sculpture, and mobiles. She earned her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Arizona and has exhibited widely in New England and New York. A committed member of the artistic community, Brown is an artist member of The Painting Center in New York City and the Silvermine Guild in New Canaan, Connecticut. Her work reflects a strong foundation in sculpture, a daily drawing practice, and an interest in organic, dynamic forms.
Influenced by the music that fills my studio, I combine emotion and imagination to bring energy and movement to my work. The rhythm often shapes how I apply color, which flows across the surface in ways that can be playful, bold, or quietly layered. My aim is to create forms that engage the viewer—visual spaces that evoke curiosity, interaction, and discovery.
With a background in sculpture, I’m drawn to amorphic, organic, and monumental shapes. I see these forms as active, even when they’re still, and I work to give them a sense of presence. My daily sketching practice is the foundation of my process, providing a steady stream of ideas and shapes. I translate these drawings into paintings, mobiles, and wall sculptures, letting each medium influence how the work develops. Across all formats, I’m interested in how movement, form, and color can work together to hold attention and invite interpretation.
