Star Board Term Four Week One

Around School

Boarding Note

Kia Ora Koutou.

A very warm welcome back to all St Matthew’s students.

As term 4 is a very important time of the year especially for our Year 11-13 students, we aim to provide a relaxing and stress-free environment in boarding. Having a study schedule in place and providing transport to and from exams are two examples of how we can help the boarders manage their exam leave effectively and allow girls to simply focus on their study.

Peta McKay and Georgie Donald, two of our Year 12 boarders catching the minivan out to Senior College for their exam yesterday.

The holiday period is always a good opportunity to get maintenance work done in boarding. During our recent break, we had some painting completed in Hampton House and we are thrilled with the result. Both atrium spaces have been painted a beautiful grey blue which works perfectly with our colour scheme. If you are in Hampton visiting or want to check out the injection of colour down the main hallway, we would love to take you through the House. We think it looks gorgeous!

Please note that it is Labour weekend next weekend. Although it is a Teacher Only Day on Tuesday 29th October on the St Matthew’s campus, it is a normal school day at Senior College.

If there are any Main House boarders who need to return to boarding on Monday evening, please make contact so we can staff the boarding houses accordingly.

Thank you.

Year 7 & 8 Athletics

Thursday afternoon saw our Year 7 & 8 students head down to the Masterton athletics track to participate in athletic events such as running, shot put, vortex, discus, high jump, long jump and relays. These events were run by a Year 10 PE class, who did a great job.

Orientation Day

Today we had the privilege of having our 2025 intake of Year 7, 8 and 9 along with our existing Year 7 and 8 join us for our Orientation day. There was a little bit of testing, a few activities, some food and ice cream and a lot of fun and socialising!

Emergency Contacts

To follow up on the email sent to all families, if you need to update your emergency contacts on our student management system, please do this by the end of this term. This can be done by sending an email to office@stmatts.school.nz. There is room for two emergency contacts on the system.

It will be a knock-out tournament with a finals match at the end! If you and your daughter are interested in attending, please email Anna Smallwood: 182049@trinityschools.nz by the 21st October.
