Assistant Headteacher's Message
Dear parents and carers, This week has been another busy week at SJV with lots of activity taking place both in and out of the classroom. We are continuing to focus on our Lenten themes of prayer, fasting and almsgiving as we move closer to the Easter Holidays. Our pupils, parents and carers amaze us every year with their generous donations and fundraising to help support the work of CAFOD. On Tuesday evening we held our annual parents evening. The evening was very well attended and provided a great opportunity for our parents and carers to hear about all of the progress that their children and young people have been making in school this academic year. Our annual Stations of the Cross and Reconciliation services were held on Friday in school. Fr Nick, Mrs Garfin and the GIFT team planned and delivered a lovely service which helped us to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for his people as well as an opportunity for us to reflect on our own actions and think about how we can change for the better. On Friday afternoon Ms Nesbitt and her Hospitality pupils hosted an Easter themed coffee afternoon in our school dining room. It was a really nice event which gave our parents and carers, community members and former pupils an opportunity to come into school and spend some time with some of our current pupils and staff. Finally, can I remind parents and carers please that School will break up for the Easter break on Thursday 2nd April at 1.30pm. Some transport teams have said they will not be able to arrive to school until the 3.10pm usual pick-up time and if required we will support our pupils remaining in school until this time. Transport teams have been told of the earlier pick-up time. The summer term will start on Monday 20th April at 9am. I hope that you have all had a pleasant week and that you have an enjoyable and restful weekend. Kind regards, Mr T Harris, Assistant Headteacher

- Do not give children nuts or nut products in their packed lunches.
- Do not give nuts, nut products or snacks/bars containing nuts for break time snacks.
- Do not send cakes or food items, containing nuts, in to school for birthday celebrations, cake sales or events.
Thank you for your support.

Class 5, together with Mr Whelan and the team, spent a reflective morning at The Just Youth Centre. The retreat gave pupils the chance to think deeply about friendship, prayer, and supporting one another. The children had a wonderful experience and really valued the time spent learning outside the classroom.
As part of our ongoing Lenten mission, each class has been allocated dedicated time away from the usual timetable to participate in additional fundraising activities in support of CAFOD. Pupils have been visiting Chorlton Centre, where they have assisted with bag packing, collected donations, and carried out small acts of kindness for members of the local community.
In RE lessons this week, classes have been deepening their understanding of Easter, exploring the significance of this period within the Christian faith. Pupils have been learning about the rich diversity of Easter traditions around the world, examining how Christian communities in different cultures commemorate this important season through prayer, liturgy, music, and symbolic customs.

Celebrating Success: KS4 & KS5 Hospitality Group Coffee Afternoon
This week, Ms Nesbitt and our Key Stage 4 and 5 Hospitality students proudly hosted a coffee afternoon for parents and carers; a wonderful event that showcased not only their hospitality skills but also their growing confidence, independence, and teamwork. The afternoon provided students with a meaningful opportunity to take on real responsibilities, from preparing refreshments to welcoming guests and ensuring everyone felt included. These experiences play a vital role in developing essential life skills such as communication, organisation, and problem‑solving. Equally important was the sense of community the event created. Our guests were able to see first‑hand the maturity and capability of these students whilst the warm, relaxed atmosphere allowed families, carers and staff to connect, strengthening the supportive relationships that sit at the heart of our school.
We were also delighted to welcome several of our former students, who returned to support the event and reconnect with staff. Their presence added a special sense of continuity and pride, showing our current learners what can be achieved as they move forward on their own journeys. It was heart‑warming to see former students offering encouragement and celebrating the achievements of those following in their footsteps. Events like this remind us of the immense value of providing our learners with authentic, real‑world experiences. Our students rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and professionalism, and we are incredibly proud of everything they achieved.
