A Message from the Headteacher

Today seems an exciting time to write to you - it was of course the Summer Fayre today! Thank you to everybody who has supported us through non uniform days, through attendance at the fair and of course to Mrs Whitfield and Miss Taylor for leading our brilliant fund-raising extravaganza. I hope the scorching weather was not too overpowering. It is genuinely hard work for some children, but I know that they had a great afternoon. Thank you to everybody for giving appropriate sun care to the children during this unusually hot weather too.

Naturally at this time of year, we have plenty of news. More exciting events have been taking place across school.

Firstly, a huge thank you to everybody who made the trip to Year 1 Boston Farm possible. There are some stunning photographs, and I received fabulous feedback from everybody involved. A brilliant day all round. It’s events such as the Fayre that help to make these accessible to all.

Our choir treated us to a brilliant performance this week; the rock medley was an absolute classic! Places remain in the choir, and it would be great to fill it up further. Singing is good for the soul and for well-being and it looked like the children had tremendous fun entertaining a thrilled audience. Thanks again to the choral leaders!

This is the perfect opportunity to share -

that we have received Artsmark Gold! Fabulous – well done to Mrs. Rennison and the whole team – a magnificent achievement for our school.

Year 5 overcame some ‘coach headaches,’ yet still enjoyed the trip to the Medical Museum in Leeds. As predicted, there were several surprises in terms of how medicine and treatment were administered throughout history! I am glad they enjoyed it and seemed to learn so much. Please see the photos below.

Thank you to Miss Greenwood for her work on our outdoor area and the school garden. The ‘Yorkshire in Bloom’ judging panel seemed extremely impressed with the efforts made by lots of our children. The panel were extremely impressed with our tour guides. Here's hoping for a great result!

Team Water got a great result themselves! They visited Parkway Cinema as a reward for earning the title of house team winners. Thanks to Mr. Davis for arranging the event and all of the staff who made it possible. Again, we received some extremely excitable feedback. A brilliant message by way of rewarding for teamwork and collaboration!

Reports Day and for some children, it’s results time too! It provides a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the progress of the children and their hard work throughout the year. I am delighted with so many comments on their reports, and I hope that you enjoy reading them. There's an opportunity to clarify or discuss any comments on Monday after school. An enormous well done to everybody.

Of course we are heading for the last week of term. As always it will be busy.

Y3/4 will visit the Cooper Gallery, a wonderful local amenity – please go and have a look!

Year 6 families may need the tissues. It’s Leavers’ Assembly on Wednesday – we are strictly limited to 2 tickets per child, and these have gone out already. The event will be recorded so nobody needs to miss out.

Key Stage 1 Assembly is on Thursday & Key Stage 2 Assembly is on Friday, again it’s invitation only due to numbers. Congratulations to those with an invite.

Our Rock Stars will be performing on Thursday in the end of year Rocksteady Concert – I can’t wait!

Afterschool clubs are starting the first week back in September. Please check the timetable further down. They will be on Arbor from 4pm today until 10am Friday 18th July.

Not sure if you are aware of this initiative for children under 18, but I thought it might be worth sharing with you? Barnsley Micard provides free bus travel for under 18s within south Yorkshire, as long as you are a Barnsley resident and your journey starts or ends in the Barnsley local area. Please see the link below.

Just a date for your diaries - the next SEND Parents' Meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th September at 1:30pm. This is due to the first Tuesday of the month being the 2nd day back after the summer holidays.

Wee beasties are coming to Cudworth!!! Please see the below flyer for the special event coming in September.

So, please have a brilliant and safe weekend, enjoy the sunshine as it feels more like Spain than England right now!
