Rooted in Strength, Rising in Power
On February 27, 2026, United Charter High School for Advanced Math & Science IV proudly hosted our 3rd Annual Black Empowerment Expo, a full-day celebration dedicated to honoring Black excellence, uplifting our scholars, and connecting them with inspiring professionals and leaders from across many industries. Guided by this year’s theme — “Rooted in Strength, Rising in Power” — the event was designed to empower students to explore their identities, envision their futures, and engage with mentors who reflect the limitless possibilities ahead of them.
A Day of Inspiration and Opportunity
The Black Empowerment Expo transformed our school into a dynamic space for learning, networking, and celebration. The day began with advisory sessions preparing students for the experience ahead, followed by a powerful opening panel discussion titled “Rising in Power.” Students then participated in a series of interactive workshops and speaker sessions, rotating through classrooms to engage directly with professionals from a wide range of fields including law, healthcare, entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, community affairs, and the arts. Through these conversations, scholars gained real-world insight into career pathways, leadership journeys, and the perseverance required to create meaningful impact in their communities. This experience reinforced the belief that our scholars are not only future leaders—but current changemakers in the making.

Student-Led Panel
The “Rising in Power” panel discussion was hosted by our student moderators Tanushri Singh and Stephanas Augustus, who led an engaging conversation with guest speakers about leadership, perseverance, and their journeys to success. Their thoughtful questions helped inspire scholars and set the tone for an empowering day.
Celebrating Culture, History, and Legacy
The day concluded with a powerful school-wide showcase,
“Then, Now, Forever, Us!”
celebrating Black history through poetry, music, dance, and artistic expression. A special recognition goes to Ms. Rae, who wrote and choreographed the powerful music and dance performance presented by our PRIDE Pack. We also extend our gratitude to Ms. Henry and Ms. Rae for leading and bringing to life the inspiring second half of the Black Empowerment Expo Show. Their creativity and leadership helped make this celebration both meaningful and unforgettable for our entire school community.
