Aspiring Teacher Pathway
The Aspiring Teacher Pathway is designed for students who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others through education. This four-course sequence includes Principles of Education, Human Growth & Development, Communication and Technology in Education, and concludes with Education 1301 during senior year for college credit.
Students gain real-world, hands-on experience in Harlingen CISD classrooms, working directly with students at various grade levels. They develop skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and educational technology, while exploring a wide range of careers in education — from teaching and coaching to counseling and administration.
By completing the pathway, students earn their Texas State Educational Aide certification, opening doors for immediate employment as a teacher aide upon graduation.
Beyond preparing future educators, this pathway builds strong leaders equipped with effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills — transferable abilities that benefit any career path. By graduation, students are confident, experienced, and ready to excel as educators, mentors, and community leaders.
