With Christmas fast approaching and the weather getting rapidly colder, children are bringing in extra layers to keep warm. Please ensure that these are all labelled. If we find items with a name, they are returned to their peg. Unnamed items are difficult to keep track of and have a tendency to disappear!
Poppies on Pebbles
'Poppies on Pebbles' marked Remembrance on a wartime airfield. A special Remembrance event took place at RAF Saltby on the 10th November with some of the children who painted the pebbles gathering against a backdrop of the historic runway, memorial and flags of three nations The airfield near Grantham was the take-off point for thousands of British, American and Polish paratroopers for the 1944 milestones of D-DAY and Operation Market Garden (Arnhem). Many pebbles also carried the names of individual Allied soldiers who gathered in South Kesteven and are now celebrated in South Kesteven District Council’s ‘Soldiers from the Sky’ project, made possible by Lottery players.
It tells the largely untold backstories of troops as they trained in the district and flew into battle from local airfields – www.soldiersfromthesky.co.uk Funded project pebble painting workshops were delivered to eight schools, including Ingoldsby Academy, by Grantham Arts, with pupils also inspired to write poems and produce artwork. Children were given links to the register of fallen Airborne troops buried in the Oosterbeek Airborne Cemetery near Arnhem. They also had names of the five men awarded the Victoria Cross for valour at Arnhem, the elite American Pathfinder troops first into the air from RAF North Witham near Colsterworth on the eve of D-Day - and Polish paratroopers killed in a mid-air collision near Stamford in 1944.

Spotlight on SEND
We use sensory circuits in school to help pupils regulate. This is something that you can try at home, if your child needs support to be ready for the day.
The circuit needs to incorporate three stages: 1. Alerting, 2. Organizing 3. Calming For children with low arousal (appear tired/dazed) you will concentrate mainly on alerting activities and for children with high arousal (appear hyper/active/overanxious), concentrate on calming activitie
Attendance
Supporting Good Attendance During a Busy Winter of Bugs As we move further into the term, we want to take a moment to talk about attendance. Like many schools across the country, we’ve noticed a dip recently—and we completely understand why. There have been plenty of coughs, colds and seasonal bugs making their way around families, and we know how hard it can be when children are unwell. At the same time, we want to gently remind everyone how important regular attendance is for children’s learning, confidence and sense of routine. Even a few days missed here and there can add up, sometimes making it harder for children to settle back into their work and friendships. We really appreciate the care you show in keeping your child at home when they are genuinely too unwell to attend. When they’re feeling better—and especially for those mild symptoms that don’t stop them learning—bringing them in makes a big difference. If you’re ever unsure whether your child is well enough for school, or if your family is struggling with attendance for any reason, please do get in touch. We’re here to help and can offer support, reassurance and guidance wherever it’s needed. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep routines strong, learning on track and our school community thriving.
School Success
It's always nice to celebrate success. A parent recently directed me to an article by the Guardian showing our KS2 outcomes compared to other local schools.
