A Message from the Headteacher

Another week and mid October already! I must apologise for jinxing the weather as usual service is resumed. However, in school it has been busy, busy, busy. We have worked on activities supporting World Mental Health Day. The children’s awareness of positive mental health was impressive, and I was delighted to see some of the strategies recommended by them to help each other and to help one’s self. We all must be mindful of realising ‘it’s ok to talk’ and ‘it’s ok to be not ok.’ Some valuable lessons for everyone and an area which has certainly been highlighted in many ways across all forms of media and many work places and schools. I thank Mr. Davis for his work in leading Mental Health at Birkwood.

As promised, we have secured a ‘Mop up’ photo day.' If your child/ family has missed school photograph day then 1pm on the 20th November will be an opportunity to rectify this.

From the sponsored events, we shall share the amount of money raised next week. Should any monies be outstanding, please send them in to school ASAP. Again, thanks for your terrific support.

Please look out for After School Clubs on Parent Pay from next week. Book your children’s places the usual way.

Next week shall see a Reading Invitation for Class Sharman Families on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, Gardening Club shall be selling strawberry plants. They will be available on Wednesday too from the playground!

We have worked with our lovely School Council to reassess our tuck options. Please look out for a letter soon. The good news is that the cost will decrease to 25p per day. We are aiming to provide better options in terms of calorie intake and sugar content.

Next week is a busy week - see the dates below. As ever, I wish everyone a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday.

This wonderful Year 4 superstar has been fundraising for Barnsley Hospital. Barnsley Hospital are keen to interview him over this effort. We thought that we would share this super news! We can’t wait to hear even more of this exciting story very soon!
