Dear Minera Families,
It’s been another busy and enjoyable week in school. Here’s a snapshot of what our pupils have been learning and taking part in:
Dosbarth Pioneers
Dosbarth Pioneers have been investigating old toys and making their own spinning toys as part of their topic work. They have also been learning about the parable of The Lost Sheep, engaging thoughtfully in class discussions.
Dosbarth Explorers
Dosbarth Explorers have been writing clear instructions on how to make crispy cakes, focusing on sequencing and detail. In mathematics, they have worked hard on developing their column addition skills.
On Monday afternoon, Liam Hardwick from Wrexham Music Co‑operative led an exciting singing workshop. Everyone had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed taking part!
Children enjoyed their first swimming lesson this week. They were assessed by the swimming instructors and placed into groups accordingly. We were extremely impressed with the children’s independence when getting changed.
Dosbarth Navigators
Dosbarth Navigators have been rewriting the legend of Branwen, using imagination and descriptive language. In science, they have been learning about the parts of flowers and thoroughly enjoying dissecting them to explore their structure.
Collective Worship
Rev Helen led our collective worship on Wednesday afternoon. She shared the story of when Jesus was lost as a boy and later found by Mary and Joseph in the temple.

Nursery Admissions – September 2026
Applications for Nursery school places for September 2026 are now open. The closing date for applications is Monday, 16th February 2026. Please note that a Funded Early Education (10-hour) place starting in January or April 2026 is not the same as a Nursery application. Funded places are for the spring and/or summer term only and will end in July. Securing a funded early education place does not guarantee a Nursery place for September. A separate Nursery application must be made if you have not already done so. If you experience any difficulties when making an application, please contact admissions@wrexham.gov.uk or call 01978 298991.
Minera School’s 175th Anniversary
This year marks a very special milestone — Minera School’s 175th anniversary. We will be celebrating this landmark with a series of events for our school community throughout the year. Mr Williams is forming a 175th Anniversary Committee to help plan and organise these celebrations. If you would like to be involved, please email: headteacher@minera-pri.wrexham.sch.uk We would love to have as many voices and ideas as possible.
Half Term Christian Value
Our Christian value this half term is perseverance. Through collective worship and class activities, children will be exploring the importance of not giving up and continuing to try, even when things feel challenging.
Facebook - Spread the word
I'd like to highlight our school's Facebook page - it's a wonderful window into the exciting learning and fun that happens every day at Minera. We're incredibly proud of our children and our community, so please join, share, and help us spread the smiles and celebrations of Minera School far and wide.
