Last Chance to Answer the Darks Skies Ordinance Survey!
Brisbane's Open Space and Ecology Committee (OSEC) has been working with Sustainability and Planning staff for over a year to develop a proposed Dark Skies Ordinance that would help protect the nocturnal environment as well as community health and enjoyment of the night sky through reasonable limits on outdoor lighting. The community's feedback at this juncture is critical to both the success and completion of the project. Thank you for providing your opinions and feedback regarding potential sections of the ordinance by Sunday, October 15th! Note: This survey is anonymous.
OSEC's Dark Skies subcommittee will be reviewing the survey results at a meeting on Wednesday the 18th. Their monthly meetings are generally each 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm.
Crocker Park Trail Resurfacing Update
Starting next week, signage and bollards will be placed along the trail. The signs will be reminding Trail users to keep their dogs on leash, and that horses and motorized vehicles (including electric bicycles and dirt bikes) are not permitted on the Trail at any time. A reminder that there will be a Ribbon-Cutting for the Trail’s resurfacing on Wednesday at 11am, across the street from the Dog Park on Park Ln. If you can't make it, you can watch this timelapse video which was shot earlier this week and provides an overview of this resurfacing project.

U.S. 101 NB Closure in RWC this Weekend Starts Tonight
Northbound U.S. 101 between Brittan and Whipple Avenues in Redwood City will be temporarily closed for 55 hours, starting at 10pm tonight, 10/13, until 5am on Monday the 16th. For more info, visit SM101CordillerasCreekBridge.com or call Caltrans' project hotline at (510) 286-0319.
Another Fun, Packed Weekend in Brisbane!
A 55-hour closure shouldn't be too much of an issue, considering all the things happening this weekend right here in Brisbane! Like Saturday’s Open House at Station 81 from 10-2, Playgym at the Community Center from 9:30-11am, and Sunday’s Kidney Fundraiser at the Eagles on Sunday at 1pm, there’s something for everyone. This would also be a great weekend to start cleaning up your yard if you haven't yet, so that you're ready for this year's Winter Cleanup, happening November 4-5.
Speaking of the Open House at Station 81 and ways to keep your property fire-safe, at last week's City Council meeting, NCFA Fire Inspector Orlando Aguon was on-hand to receive the following Proclamation from the Council, designating October 8-14 as Fire Prevention Week.

You may have seen this homepage banner rotating on the City's website during the last month or so.
We are fortunate to have a San Mateo County Libraries location in town, as they are constantly offering timely and relevant events at the Brisbane Library. In celebration of National Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month, they arranged for Ballet Folklorico México Vivo to perform for the community on 10/1 and Mariachi Tapatio on 9/21. See all upcoming events at Library at brisbaneca.org/smcl.
