Dear Bluejay Family, As we conclude Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special for our faculty and staff. Our PTC truly knocked it out of the park! From the creative Alice in Wonderland theme to the delicious meals, thoughtful treats, and beautiful decorations, every detail reflected the love and appreciation they have for our teachers. We are deeply grateful for the time, generosity, and care that went into every moment of the week. A special thank you as well to our incredible Bluejay Dads, city officials, and Senior Leadership Team who assisted with car line duty during the week. Your willingness to serve our school community in such a practical and meaningful way was a tremendous blessing to our teachers and staff. St. Cecilia is strengthened by so many people who quietly and faithfully give of themselves for the good of others. In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds His disciples that love is shown through action. This week was a beautiful witness to that kind of love in action. Through acts of service, encouragement, generosity, and hospitality, our community reflected the love of Christ in countless ways. Today, we also celebrate Mother’s Day. We extend our prayers and warm wishes to all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, spiritual mothers, and all women who nurture and care for others with a mother’s love. We also hold in prayer those who find this day difficult—those grieving the loss of a mother or child, longing to become mothers, or carrying unseen hurts. May Our Blessed Mother intercede for all women today and may every mother feel appreciated, supported, and deeply loved. There are only two weeks left in the school year! Let us finish strong together with gratitude, joy, and continued appreciation for the incredible community that makes St. Cecilia School so special.
Grace & Peace, Erin B. Henry Principal

PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY
For the past 4 years, students who have had the opportunity to serve as Principal-for-a-Day are allowed to create a reasonable rule for the day for our student body. This year's Principal-for-a-Day, Miss Jimi Armand, is excited to declare Friday, May 15, Pajama Day for grades 1 through 8. Since that day is also our final school-wide assembly, students, faculty, and staff may want to plan ahead and choose pajamas that reflect their House colors as they take part in the fun. At the same time, we ask for your partnership in ensuring that all attire reflects the modesty and respect that are hallmarks of St. Cecilia School. Please review the following expectations with your child:
- Modesty First: Pajamas must be loose-fitting and provide full coverage.
- The "Sit-Test": If a student sits or bends over, no skin (midriff or lower back) should be visible.
- Safety First: Students must wear closed-toe shoes or sturdy slippers with rubber soles. No bare feet or stocking feet.
- No Nightgowns/Nightshirts: Unless worn over school length shorts or pajama pants.
- No Tank Tops: Even if they are part of a matching set.
Students who prefer not to participate are welcome to wear their standard school uniform. Any student not in compliance will be asked to change into uniform attire.
TRANSITIONS
PLEASE WELCOME
We are excited to announce that Ms. Mary Attales will serve in a part-time role as our new Assistant Athletic Director for the 2026-2027 school year. Ms. Attales has faithfully served the St. Cecilia community for the past six years as a first grade teacher following her retirement from LPSS. Throughout her time at St. Cecilia, she has consistently demonstrated a deep love for our students, a strong commitment to teamwork, and an unwavering Bluejay spirit. In addition to her years in education, Ms. Attales brings extensive experience working with youth athletics. She coached youth softball and basketball through Broussard/Youngsville Youth Association for five years before raising her own children, and coached her children’s t-ball, soccer, softball, and basketball teams for 15 years. Her passion for helping children grow through sports, combined with her servant leadership and positive energy, make her an outstanding fit for this role. Ms. Attales understands that athletics are about far more than wins and losses. They are about building character, discipline, teamwork, and school pride while helping students discover and develop the gifts God has given them. She is looking forward to working with Coach Justin in the upcoming year.
ADVISORY COUNCIL
Please join me in warmly welcoming the newest members of our Advisory Council! We are grateful for the time, talent, and commitment these individuals are offering in service to St. Cecilia School. We are excited to welcome two newly appointed members who are stepping in to replace members who have completed their terms: Mr. John Lorio and Mrs. Hien Tran. In addition, we had four elected seats available on the council this year. We are incredibly thankful that four parents graciously accepted nominations to serve and were elected by acclamation: Mr. Michael Crowson, Mrs. Lauren Faulk, Mrs. Nicole Kolwe, and Mr. Travis Martin. We are blessed by the support of parents and community members who are willing to partner with us in advancing the mission of St. Cecilia. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the members who are departing from the Advisory Council after faithfully serving our school community: Mr. Seth Babineaux, Mrs. Erin Bolfer, Mrs. Misti Bryant, , Mrs. Hailey Fontenot, Mr. Jason Maynard, and Mr. John Tilly. Thank you for your dedication, leadership, and support of St. Cecilia School. Please join me in thanking and congratulating all of these individuals for their generous service to our Bluejay family!

Honoring The Children of St. Cecilia School Almighty Father, as grateful stewards of the blessings You have bestowed on us from past leaders and supporters of our beloved St. Cecilia School family, we ask for wisdom and guidance in carrying on this legacy of serving Your children in Your love. Guided by the Holy Spirit, may we be humbly attentive to Your will as we strive to build new spaces of learning for Your children to grow, providing a foundation for the vocations in life to which You call them. May generous hearts and minds be opened and inspired by Your grace as we undertake this endeavor of building on tradition and trusting in Your will. We pray this in the name of Your Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, as we invoke the intercession of our patroness, Saint Cecilia. Amen

PTC Spotlight
Nichole Bonin is the mom of two boys, an SCS alum, and a current third-grader. She has been a tremendous asset to the PTC by bringing many ideas, as well as food, to the table! Serving as our Teacher Appreciation Chair, she has taken on the job of appreciating our teachers throughout the year. She has led several Stock the Lounge events, and her leadership during Teacher Appreciation Week has been outstanding. She planned, ordered, and set up meals for the entire faculty and staff each day of TAW for the past three years. Nichole has also been a Bluejay Bash volunteer and Room Mom. In addition, she has played an instrumental part in organizing and growing our PTC. Nichole, your talent for feeding and showing appreciation to our teachers, and your cheerful presence around campus, are a blessing to our school.
If you have pictures of your children standing in front of an amazing Grandparents’ Day or Color Run backdrop, or if you have ever admired the enormous Teacher Appreciation decorations, you were most likely looking at Amy Melancon’s creations. Amy is a valuable PTC member who quietly and humbly works behind the scenes. She’s spent countless hours in her dining room early before work creating beautiful (and large) decorations. She goes above and beyond her task and has an exceptional gift of creativity. Amy says yes to many events that need help, even organizing the school supply delivery for the teachers by herself at the beginning of the year. A full-time working mom of two SCS students, she often travels out of town for her job but still volunteers to create beautiful and time-consuming decorations for our PTC. Thank you, Amy, for your unwavering and selfless commitment to SCS, your kind and thoughtful heart, and your incredible creativity.

We are so very grateful for all Judy Tilly has done in this role for the past two years. Your leadership and support of St. Cecilia is so greatly appreciated.
