Parkside Primary News Week ending: Friday 10th November 2023

ASPIRATIONS WEEK

We would like to say a big thank you to all of our visitors this week who have given up their time to come and speak to the children about their careers. It has been a very inspiring week and the children are now full of thoughts and enthusiasm about the future. They asked some fantastic questions and gave thoughtful ideas.

The visitors were from a wide range of industry sectors, including guests from the Press Association, Volkswagen, Jet 2, the RAF and ITV News, as well as a doctor and a baker.

CHILDREN IN NEED - FRI 17TH NOV

A reminder from the School Council - As per our letter before half term, we will celebrating Children In Need day on Friday 17th November. As organised by the School Council, this occasion will be a non-uniform day, where pupils are invited to wear their favourite pyjamas, including onesies and oodies.

We understand that not all children may feel comfortable wearing non-uniform . We ask those that do dress up to wear costume/clothing items that are sensible and respectful. In addition to dressing up, on the day each pupil will be allowed to bring a teddy bear (stuffed animal) of their choice to school for the day.

After school on Friday 17th November, at 3.30pm, the School Council will be staging a Bring & Buy sale in the West Wing Studio. This will be a fantastic opportunity for the school community to purchase preloved clothes, books and toys. Items will not be individually priced and all we ask for is a charitable donation (via the ParentPay page below). Children wishing to come to the Bring & Buy event will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Before the event, if you have any items you would like to donate for the sale, we would really welcome your support. Any money raised will go directly to Children In Need.

This is our first charity fundraiser as a school council and we would greatly appreciate any of your kind donations to this fantastic cause, via the special ParentPay page by clicking the button below.

Thank you, from the School Council

SPOTLIGHT ON ATTENDANCE 🔦

The overall school attendance dropped in the last week before the half term break. Let's boost it back up again!

School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.

What an absence means for your child?

At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.

If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Miss Curley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
