Celebrating Cultures, Celebrating Us. nURSERY, aUTUMN tERM, wEEK 8

This week in Nursery has been full of joy, colour, and celebration. The children have been exploring new ideas, learning through play, and sharing special moments with friends as we learned about the festival of Diwali on Monday.

Making rangoli patterns, lighting candles, eating cake, and dancing with colourful scarves to lively Indian music.

The children are becoming so thoughtful with one another. This week we saw lovely examples of sharing, helping, and playing together. At 'tidy-up-time' the children have been especially proud of their hard work keeping our classroom looking beautiful.

We also want to thank the parents who joined us this week. Your support and enthusiasm make our nursery community shine. The children love showing you what they are learning and telling you about their favourite stories.

Threading – a classic activity that develops fine motor skills.

Working together to complete a story-themed jigsaw puzzle!

One of the highlights of our week was visiting the school library. The children were excited to explore the shelves and begin learning how to choose books independently. We’ll continue visiting regularly to nurture a love of reading and stories.

Our phonics skills are developing beautifully. This week, we focused on careful listening — identifying animal sounds and experimenting with musical instruments to tune into different noises.

Playing loudly and quietly to explore different sounds.

The children are showing a real fascination with writing numbers, so we’re going with it! We’ve provided a range of templates to help them learn how to form the numbers 1, 2, and 3.

Wishing you all a wonderful half-term break! Have fun if you’re celebrating Halloween. A quick reminder that Monday 3rd November is a training day, so we’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday.

Celebrating the changing seasons!
