Headteacher's Message

Mr A Moloney

Dear Parents and Carers,   We have had a good week in school and are pleased with the daily contributions made by our children and young people. Thank you for your support in getting them in school each day in their full uniforms and in being ready for School. It has been a better week weather wise and the pupils have benefited from a range of off-site and outside experiences again this week. Everybody feels better with the spring sunshine and longer days!   Our Lenten actions are certainly visible in school and pupils are working hard on their Lenten promises to pray more, to consider fasting and to identify how they can fundraise to look after those more vulnerable than ourselves. It is lovely to see so many CYP thinking of others and what we can do to consider our Catholic mission in school.   Can I remind parents please that School will break up for the Easter break on Thursday 2nd April at 1.30pm. Some transport teams have said they will not be able to arrive to school until the 3.10pm usual pick up time and if required we will support our pupils remaining in school until this time. Transport teams have been told of the earlier pick up time. The summer term will start on Monday 20th April at 9am.   Another key date for your diary is the annual Parents Evening, which will take place on Tuesday 24th March 2026 from 4.30pm to 6pm. Please make a note of the date and time of this really important event, where you will have an opportunity to meet with teachers and class teams to discuss the progress made by your child and to look through the work that they have been undertaking this year. Spring term Interim reports will be sent to parents and carers in the penultimate week of the current half term (week ending 20th March 2026). Yours sincerely,   Mr A Moloney Headteacher

Highlights of the Week

Our Catholic School

Our spiritual focus in SJV this week is centred on a message from scripture that encourages us to live out our faith through kindness, reflection, and service:

"Lent is a time for greater generosity—not just with money, but with love, forgiveness, and mercy".

-St Leo the Great

Across the school, our Lenten mission continues with great enthusiasm. The 40 Acts of Kindness challenge is now well underway, and it has been wonderful to see the thoughtful and generous actions pupils have been recording. These acts of kindness —both big and small — are helping to nurture a compassionate and caring school community.   All classes have also been taking part in Si-Lent, creating moments during the day to pause, be still and spend quiet time with God. This opportunity for silence and reflection is supporting pupils in deepening their understanding of their faith and the meaning of Lent.   Fundraising efforts are progressing well too, with each class working hard to support CAFOD World Gifts. Pupils are showing a strong commitment to helping others and are beginning to appreciate the positive difference their efforts can make to communities around the world.   In RE lessons, pupils have been exploring themes linked to Lent, kindness and the power of words. They have reflected on how “fasting” from unkind or hurtful language can positively influence their relationships and contribute to a more supportive school environment. Scripture has guided these discussions, encouraging pupils to think about how they can support and care for others during this important season.
