Safe and Inclusive Cities for Women and Girls AZERBAIJAN URBAN CAMPAIGN - WEBSTORY

On 16 December 2025, the Gender Hub convened a public dialogue on “Safe and Inclusive Cities for Women and Girls” at the Globus Centre, bringing together urban practitioners, policymakers, and civil society actors to discuss gender-responsive urban development. The session was moderated by Shamsiyya Mustafayeva and featured contributions from Maryam Majidova, Anna Soave (UN-Habitat), Jamila Mammadli, and Anar Valiyev. Speakers explored how urban planning, governance, and community engagement can contribute to safer, more inclusive cities that respond to the everyday realities of women and girls. The event attracted over 50 participants and sparked a lively Q&A session, reflecting strong interest and active engagement from the audience on issues of safety, accessibility, and gender equality in urban spaces. As part of the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign 2026, the discussion contributed to national awareness-raising and stakeholder mobilisation in the lead-up to WUF13, highlighting gender equality as a core pillar of sustainable urban development. Key moments and messages from the event were shared across Gender Hub’s LinkedIn and Instagram channels, as well as on UN-Habitat’s Instagram and SCUPA’s LinkedIn, extending the reach of the conversation and reinforcing the campaign’s commitment to inclusive, people-centred cities.
