School Office Closed: June 29-July 10

Dear Bluejay Family, We are excited to share that construction is officially underway on our new gymnasium, all necessary permits have been secured, and lots of dirt is moving. While recent rainy weather has created some minor delays in the construction schedule, progress continues, and we are grateful to see this long-awaited project moving forward. As part of this exciting transition, our school administrative offices will remain in their current location at the start of the 2026–2027 school year. We are now planning for the office move during Thanksgiving break. This adjusted timeline will allow us to thoughtfully address any unforeseen needs in the temporary office space while ensuring that parking, traffic flow, and visitor access are fully ready before the transition. We are deeply grateful for your patience and flexibility as our campus continues to grow and evolve. Each step of this project brings us closer to facilities that will serve our students, families, and faculty for generations to come. Homeroom Class Rosters

Homeroom class rosters will be available for viewing on Monday, June 22. FACTS parent portal will be activated again for viewing. You can click on your child’s name and view their homeroom teacher. 

Faculty ContinuING Education

This summer, our faculty once again demonstrates what makes St. Cecilia educators wonderful—a commitment to continually growing in knowledge and skill for the benefit of our students. Nearly every teacher on campus participated in professional development aligned to their area of instruction, dedicating part of their summer to learning, collaborating, and refining their practice. Beyond the classroom, some of our other faculty members expressed interest and joined in an effort to best help serve our students.

Science of Reading: Research-Based and Application Training (Days 1 & 2)

Teachers explored the research behind how students learn to read and practical strategies for implementing structured literacy practices in the classroom.

Small Group Implementation Trainings

These sessions focused on creating purposeful, data-driven small groups that provide targeted support and meaningful learning opportunities for all students.

Orton-Gillingham Training

Teachers received training in multisensory, structured literacy techniques designed to strengthen reading and language skills for diverse learners.

Morpheme Magic (Grades 1–8)

Faculty learned strategies for teaching word parts, roots, prefixes, and suffixes to strengthen vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension across grade levels.

Math Moments

Teachers explored ways to incorporate meaningful mathematical thinking and discussion into everyday classroom routines to build strong number sense and problem-solving skills.

Kagan Science

This training provided engaging cooperative learning structures that promote collaboration, inquiry, and active participation in science instruction.

The Educators Summer Summit

Attendees gained fresh ideas and practical strategies through sessions focused on instructional excellence, innovation, and student engagement.

Louisiana K-12 School Safety Summit

Hosted by the Louisiana Center for Safe Schools in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Education and the Louisiana State Police, this premier professional learning event brings together K-12 safety leaders and law enforcement practitioners from across the state to strengthen emergency preparedness and crisis response in schools.

We are incredibly thankful for our faculty's willingness to invest in their own growth so they can better serve our students. Their dedication to continuous learning reflects the heart of our mission and reminds us that teaching is far more than a profession—it is a calling that they answer with generosity, excellence, and faith.

Summer Reading Grades 2-8

Please see our school website for summer reading requirements for incoming students in grades 2-8 for the 2026-2027 school year. An informational summer reading page or packet with your child's ZPD, login, and a summer log should have been sent home for their summer needs.

Summer is a break from school but not a break from Jesus! We still have the obligation to attend Sunday Mass- even when on vacation or traveling for sports. Check https://masstimes.org/ (there's an app too) to find Catholic churches and Mass times wherever you go!

Hallow Highlight

Summer is a great time to explore hallow.com! There are so many different forms of prayer and you can find just about every one on the website and app. If you haven't logged in with your child's account yet, make it a goal to do so this summer and plug into a whole new way to pray!

To log in, the user name is your child's first name.last name@scsbluejays.org and the password is hallowed.

Important Safety Reminder: Authorized Pick-Up Lists

For safety, please make sure your child’s Authorized Pick-Up List is up to date. As we prepare for the new school year, the safety and security of your children remain our top priorities. Students will only be released to individuals who are explicitly named on their authorized list. Please take a moment to review your current list in the Parent Portal. If you need to add grandparents, carpool partners, or family friends who may need to collect your child, please update their contact information with us. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe!

Almighty Father, as grateful stewards of the blessings You have bestowed on us from past leaders and supporters of our beloved St. Cecilia School family, we ask for wisdom and guidance in carrying on this legacy of serving Your children in Your love. Guided by the Holy Spirit, may we be humbly attentive to Your will as we strive to build new spaces of learning for Your children to grow, providing a foundation for the vocations in life to which You call them. May generous hearts and minds be opened and inspired by Your grace as we undertake this endeavor of building on tradition and trusting in Your will.
