Y10 GCSE Textiles Trip Tate MODERN

Year 10 completed their exhibition visit to Tate Modern on Monday 7th November

The aim of the trip was for students to gather contextual resources linking to their project theme 'Structures and Surfaces'. Students were encouraged to look at the broad range of Art work that Tate Modern offers and to take inspiration from not only Textiles artists, but photographers, fine art and sculpture.

Since the half term, students have been applying the textiles skills and knowledge they have learned and developed in the first half term, to independently create samples, inspired by two of the artworks below.

Art works by Benode Behari Mukherjee, Kazir Malevich, Geta Bratescu, Maria Helena Viera da Silva and Gerhard Richter

Students are required to select and explore the visual elements of line, texture, shape and colour within the different art works, and to then create textiles samples responding to those specific visual elements.
