2024 Election Info & Thank You
The San Mateo County Elections Office announced yesterday evening that thanks in large part to same-day registration at Vote Centers, San Mateo County hit a new all-time voter registration record: 455,111 registered voters! A big thank you to all the election workers and volunteers at Brisbane's Vote Center for their tireless dedication during this election. In addition to them and our hard-working City Clerk's office, we had a very smooth and positive experience for all who came to vote in-person.
The County is releasing semi-official results every day to every couple of days over the next two weeks at 4:30 PM. See the County's website for their schedule and a link to the Results Portal. Additional results releases may be scheduled as needed, with results being certified on December 5th.

Brisbane Construction Updates
Fiber Optic Work on Bayshore Blvd.
As relayed in the May 22, 2024 Blast, the amount of construction seen on Bayshore Blvd. has increased due to several different fiber optic cable installations taking place at the same time. Two contractors are completing separate fiber optic projects in three sections of Bayshore. Right now, one is at the northern city limits near 7 Mile House, and the other is near Valley. When the contractor at 7 Mile House is done in that location, they will move down to San Bruno Ave. and work down towards the the southern border of town. They are doing similar work - running fiber optic conduit, and are trying to finish their respective jobs before the rains come.
PG&E Construction Work on Bayshore
PG&E has placed changeable message signs about their upcoming night work on northbound Bayshore, which will be getting underway this Sunday, November 10th. In order to complete their work, they will be closing northbound Bayshore, from Valley to Tunnel, between the hours of 9 PM - 6 AM, Sunday - Thursday. One must use alternate routes if traveling during the evening starting Sunday, November 10 - Tuesday, December 24. PG&E is also doing similar construction on Marina Blvd. & Sierra Point Parkway between November 10th - December 15th, 9 AM - 5 PM. We thank you for your patience; pack a lot of it before setting out!
Council Meeting Highlights
As was mentioned in the October STAR, you can find high-level Council meeting summaries on the new Council Meeting Highlights page. Note: this differs from the action minutes posted on the Meetings page following formal approval by the City Council or any of their advisory bodies, whereas the Council Meeting Highlights page is generally updated the day after the City Council meeting takes place.
Guadalupe Quarry Redevelopment Project Draft EIR Publication
The City of Brisbane, as the Lead Agency, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the proposed Guadalupe Quarry Redevelopment Project, which is now available for public review on the City website, brisbaneca.org/quarry. Hard copies are available at the Community Development Department or at the Brisbane Library. To submit a comment on the Draft EIR, email your comment to quarry@brisbaneca.org with the subject “Guadalupe Quarry Redevelopment Project Draft EIR” by 5 PM on Friday, December 6, 2024. Please see the Notice of Availability for full details. The CEQA FAQs can be read here.
Following the close of the public review period, the City will evaluate comments on significant environmental issues from commenters who reviewed the Draft EIR and prepare a Final EIR. The Final EIR will be considered by the City in making the decision to certify the EIR and approve or deny the Project.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Thursday, October 24, 2024 to provide an additional opportunity for public comment on the Draft EIR. Watch the meeting back.

Age-Friendly Corner: New Website for Brisbane Village Helping Hands
Their web address is the same, brisbanevillage.org, but it's got a fresh new look to it. Brisbane Village Helping Hands is an all-volunteer grass-roots organization dedicated to helping residents “age in place”. The Village provides a way for older residents who want to remain in their homes to request help, and for community volunteers to lend a hand. In other words, it’s about neighbors helping neighbors! Their President, Nancy Colman, was the recipient of the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award and will be making a presentation to the City Council at their December 5th meeting to talk more about the organization and how they're helping residents maintain a connection to the broader community.
What's Your Experience Traveling Near the 101 Corridor?
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) wants to hear about your experience traveling near the 101 Corridor and learn what improvements are most important to you. Your input will help develop the 101 Corridor Connect: US 101 San Mateo County Crossings Improvement Implementation Plan (Active 101).
The Active 101: US 101 San Mateo County Crossings Improvement Plan aims to identify priority crossing and corridor improvement needs and enhance conditions for people walking, biking, and using transit within a quarter mile of US 101. During our first round of outreach this fall, the community will have the opportunity to review a list of projects along the US 101 corridor and provide feedback on which projects align with their needs. Once completed, this Plan will provide a roadmap for planning, constructing, and implementing infrastructure improvement projects at critical locations near U.S 101. Learn more here!
You can share your feedback using an online mapping tool to tell the TA which active transportation improvements are most needed near US 101. Enter for a chance to win a $250 gift card.

Did You Know?
Brisbane's first wood-frame Star appeared in 1939 when Mr. Gagnier on Kings Rd. put up a large green Star during the holidays. The Chamber of Commerce liked the idea, and the following year started the tradition of building and passing out Stars. Local filmmaker Keith Moreau put the following video together, which features long-time Brisbane resident Dolores Gomez recounting her father, Dick Hosking, helped to put Stars together for the Chamber.
If you would like to request a wood-frame Star for your home or business, you can place an order for pick up (after Thanksgiving) by emailing: madison@brisbanechamber.org. Note: Stars help the Chamber raise funds for their college scholarships program and they ask that you consider donating. Look for more information in the latest Luminary.
This concludes my City Manager's Weekly Update; the next Blast will go out on Wednesday, November 13th. If this email was forwarded to you or you saw it on social media and would like to subscribe, sign up here. As always, please keep connected with us via our website & social media pages.
