Front of the river A primary care centre for a World Heritage Site town

On Friday 3rd October 2014, the GPs of Carragwen Surgery began working from these purpose-built premises serving more than 6,000 patients.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 14 years earlier for its industrial landscape, the town had been in need of a modern surgery building to make space for a broader range of primary care services such as minor operations, physiotherapy, health education, training and a nurse practitioner.

With funding from Welsh Government and Assura, the primary resource centre was the solution.

A community hub in every sense of the word, the centre also accommodates orthotics and podiatry, dentistry, an opticians and information points for local police and the county borough council.
