Literacy Open Days

Regrettably, we are not able to go ahead with the Literacy Open Days that were originally planned for next week and apologise for any inconvenience caused by the fact that the date was advertised at the beginning of term. We are able to rearrange for Friday 22nd November and will send out booking information after half term - there will be morning or afternoon slots.

Parents Evenings (November 11th & 12th)

The booking system for parents' evenings will go live on Friday (tomorrow) at 4pm and will close at 10am on Thursday 7th November. The set up for the booking system has changed and this is the first time we have used the new system - we think we've got it right, but if there are any issues, please email us and we will resolve them on Monday.

Harvest Festival

A reminder that tomorrow is our Harvest Festival which will be led by our Chair of Governors, Pastor Dave from Riverchurch. A huge thank you to him and to Mrs Reeve who is setting up our Harvest Table - the Harvest Loaf has arrived and is beautiful as always!

We will be collecting donations tomorrow for the Riverchurch foodbank.

They would appreciate tins, jars and packet food as donations please e.g. rice pudding, tinned fruit, corned beef, tinned curries, hotdogs, teabags, sugar, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna, soups, microwave rice, rice, tinned tomatoes, jams, marmalade, meat balls in gravy, cereal, squash, biscuits, tinned veg, sugar etc.

PTFA Disco (Wednesday) & Dress Down Day (Friday) next week

Please note, nursery children should be accompanied by an adult, all children must be collected by someone over the age of 16 and children should not bring phones to the disco. If your child has not been in school on the day because they have been unwell, they should not come to the disco.

Attendance

We will be sending out our Callio Attendance Letters at half term. These go out to all families regardless of reasons for absence. No offence is intended. Callio is a procedure common to school across the region, not just Pontllanfraith or CCBC. Schools are charged with the task of raising attendance so that most children have attendance above 95% and therefore the best possible chance of success in school.

We have noticed a small number of children whose attendance is significantly improved this term & have rewarded them with tickets to the cinema that have been donated by New Directions, a supply agency that the school uses.
