Kindergarten CVC Word Basketball

Learning Through Play

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Davis’ class have been practicing important reading skills, including blending, segmenting, and writing consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. To make their practice even more fun, the class turned learning into a game of “CVC Word Basketball.” During the game, students listened to a word, tapped out its individual sounds, and wrote it down. Once they finished, they crumpled the paper and took a shot into a “basket” placed on their teacher’s head. This playful activity helped students build early reading and writing skills while keeping learning active and enjoyable.
