THANK YOU, A THOUSAND TIMES, & BEYOND
I just wanted to say how thankful I am to have been a part of WIC. This past week I went to an engineering and design came at the ECCAS. Going into it I was very nervous, but I ended up seeing Julia, a friend I would have never made if it weren’t for WIC, she was there for the same camp as me and we were both really excited to see each other.
Throughout last week I had done so many things that 2 years ago I would have never done. For example, our instructor had asked us a simple question, something along the lines of what has been your favorite part of the summer so far, it wasn’t a difficult question everyone was just too shy to answer. I ended up being the first to raise my hand and answer and it started a chain to where almost everyone did.
This wouldn’t have been a big deal normally, but I used to be extremely shy and never want to speak up.
I wanted to say all the ways WIC had helped me become who I am. I have learned so much about myself and what I am interested in. It has helped me learn how to get outside of my comfort zone countless times and many resulted in great experiences. It had also taught me how to ask for help if I’m confused and how to talk to new people, and some of those people even ended up being some of my best friends.
I hope WIC continues for many, many years because Iike me, along with many other people, have learned so much from you and WIC and will forever be so thankful for it.
Thank you a thousand times and beyond.
Sincerely, Tennie H

"Girls should be encouraged to pursue what is difficult and what will be a challenge! They should be taught to chase what they are afraid of, catch it and conquer it. Helplessness is not a pathway we should offer young women."
"We show them they hold their own 'certificate to create change'.
