Wells Portfolio 2024 Honors Portfolio Development
For this project, I wanted to create a character who is partially rotting. After painting the character itself, I added a number of different layers of textures and colors to give it a somewhat disorienting effect. Then I added a background with a window-like shape and spines. I wish this piece was a little less blurry, but I like how the messed-up parts of the face turned out. I hope my audience is a little taken aback by this piece!
For this project, I wanted to make a big spooky worm! After creating the character and the worm, I added bone-like swirls in the foreground. I adjusted the colors a *great* deal of times afterwards. I’m still not sure I’m satisfied with the way the colors and lighting look in this piece, and it’s one of my least favorites, but I spent a lot of time on it. I hope my audience gets an eerie, dream-like feeling from this piece.
For this project, I wanted to create a fungal deity-like character. I painted in Photoshop for the first time in order to create this piece, and experimented with different brushes. I added a subtle texture on top of the finished piece in order to give it an appearance similar to an older physical painting. I like this piece a fair bit; I think the colors look nice and I like the flow of it. I hope my audience gets a sense of otherworldly-ness from this piece.
For this project, I wanted to create a piece with a butterfly motif. In order to create this piece, I cut out shapes in Photoshop, applied watercolor texture, and added shadows. Afterwards, I modified the colors in Procreate to be brighter. I like how this piece turned out, especially with the depth created by the shadows. I hope my audience gets a feeling of movement.
