Advocacy Actions By the United Nations Association of the USA

The United Nations reminds us that cooperation and leadership matter — and when the U.S. supports the UN, we’re investing in peace and stability for everyone.

Call your Members of Congress

This year, we are celebrating nearly 80 years of global cooperation that has helped promote peace, protect human rights, and respond to crises worldwide.

But this year, U.S. leadership at the UN is at risk: the House has passed a bill eliminating funding for core UN programs, and the final budget is still being negotiated. Now is the time to make your voice heard—tell Congress to fully fund the UN in FY’25 and keep America strong on the world stage.

Host a Coffee Chat

This Grab Coffee & Talk UN template is a relationship-based advocacy model that helps students and community members host small, informal conversations about the United Nations and U.S. foreign aid. Instead of lectures, it emphasizes open-ended questions, simple myth-busting facts, and one clear action step, building trust and understanding one coffee chat at a time.

Send a Postcard to Congress

Now is the perfect moment to remind Congress why U.S. leadership at the UN matters. A handwritten postcard is a powerful way to show your Member of Congress that constituents care about fully funding the UN in FY’25. You can look up your Member’s D.C. office address on congress.gov. Don’t forget to include your name, full address with zip code, and email so they can send you a response. Download a postcard below.

Sign our UN Full Funding Petition

Meeting our financial obligations to the UN is critical to achieving peace and security worldwide. Remember Congress controls the purse strings, and they need to hear from you, especially since the House of Representatives passed a spending bill that eliminates funding for the UN Regular Budget and zeroes out the entire International Organizations and Programs (IO&P) account.

It's not too late to act. The budget is still being negotiated as both chambers rectify the differences in their spending plans. It's vital to let Congress know what is at stake
