Congratulations to Liyana who played in the Hunter Girl's Cricket team that competed at the State Championships last week in Bathurst. The Hunter team had a successful championships and came 5th overall.

Congratulations to Aidan Turner & Hugo Willcock for their fantastic results in the ICAS assessments this year. Both boys participated in a number of Assessments and did extremely well.

Congratulations to the Year 5 students who presented speeches last week for the 2025 Student Leadership positions. Everyone did a fantastic job and should be very proud of the steps they have already taken to be a leader in our school.

A huge congratulations to the 75 students that participated in producing films for the recent Film Festival. Our students were successful in winning the following categories: Best Actress, Best Editing, Best Film & Best Junior Film.

Our students will be participating in the Dungog Show Junior Farmhand Schools Program this Friday. The Animal Nursery is always a hit. Our students have entered some amazing art into the Show. Make sure you check out our Scarecrows!

Good Luck to the students playing in the Reg Kelly Cricket Games, the Girl's Rugby League Gala Day and the Rugby Gala Day over the next few weeks. All events will be a great opportunity for students to develop and refine their skills.

Students are expected to wear a school hat to school and ensure they wear their hat when doing an outside activity.

We understand that Headlice is very active at the moment. Please check your child/children’s hair. Further information on head lice is available in English on the NSW Health website at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environment/headlice/Pages/treatment.aspx or through the Department’s website at http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/studentsupport/studenthealth/conditions/headlice/index.php.

Parents/carers are asked to remind their child/children of the expected behaviours on buses (sitting down and putting seat belts on) and also the expected behaviours around buses when children are walking to school and home from school.

We are asking for parents/carers to complete the Tell Them From Me survey on student engagement. The survey asks parents/carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. Please find the link below for the survey. http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/fbrt5

We enjoyed going on an adventure around school listening to directions given by the teacher. We’ve had a wonderful start to term 4 in 1M! We have been very busy with lots of school events and learning. 1M have recently enjoyed dressing up and dancing away at the Halloween Disco. In Mathematics, we have been solving 2 and 3-digit addition and subtraction problems and looking at the capacity of objects. Zones of Regulation and respect have been a big focus in our PDHPE lessons, where we have learnt and been practicing strategies we can use to bring us back to our Green Zone, as well as ways we can show respect to others around us at school. In Geography, we have been looking at all things weather. We have been looking at weather charts and how to read them and practicing recording weather for different places around Australia.

It has been a fantastic start to Term 4, with so much to look forward to in the coming weeks. In Stage 1 and 2, we have been delving into the world of 2D shapes and 3D objects, where flat circles meet popping spheres, and squares turn into cubes! In KO, we have been learning all about Earth and Space, exploring how daily and seasonal changes affect our environment. It has been truly wonderful getting to know each student and building connections with them through our shared love for learning. There’s so much to discover together this term, and it’s going to be great!

STAGE 2 & STAGE 3 NEWS

2j with Miss Maytom

Can you believe we're already in Term 4? This term, we've kicked off with our daily reviews in English and continued diving into our class novel, Wandi. It’s sparked some fantastic discussions as students infer and explore different perspectives on dingoes, comparing ideas in the story to informative videos. In writing, 2J has been loving imaginative writing sessions, progressing from planning stages to creating their own stories based on an intriguing picture of a large boxer dog. Their creativity is truly shining, and I’ve enjoyed reading their imaginative ideas! In Mathematics, we've been strengthening our compensation strategies, learning to make addition and subtraction easier by rounding numbers – it's been great to see everyone's confidence growing with these skills. In PDHPE, we’ve begun our unit on identity, discussing what makes us unique, and learning about the things people enjoy and dislike. Swimming has been a real highlight for sport, with plenty of smiling faces as we practice water skills and work toward personal improvement. There’s lots happening in the coming weeks, and I look forward to each day of learning, connecting, and growing together at Dungog Public School! Show up, shine bright! Your learning matters every day!

2V with Mrs middlebrook

What an amazing and busy start to the term! 2V have jumped right into our English Daily Reviews, and the progress is incredible – they’re coming along in leaps and bounds! In Mathematics, we’ve been hard at work exploring 3D nets and their properties while diving into multiplication and division. We’ve also introduced new elements in our Mathematics Daily Reviews, and I couldn’t be prouder of the effort and determination shown by every student. As part of our weekly sport, Stage 2 has started swimming lessons, where we’re building swimming skills, strength, and stamina. It’s so much fun, and everyone’s making great strides! In Health, we’ve focused on self-reflection, celebrating our differences and similarities, and understanding how these make each of us unique and perfect just the way we are. I am so amazed every day by 2V’s hard work, determination, and perseverance – keep up the fantastic work, Stage 2!

2/3l with mrs long

Welcome to Term 4 and for some the last term at Primary school. We have had so many things happening this term already that I am sure the next 6 weeks will literally fly past us. For the Year 6 students there will be visits to the High School and organising farewell activities. For the rest of us there is swimming for sport, a visit to the local Library, Grandparents day and disco's to name but a few extra curricula activities. Of course, in between all of this we have our normal classroom routines and continued learning in English and Mathematics.

3c with mrs curry

Kicking off Term 4 with a bang! We’re diving headfirst into the exciting world of fractions in Mathematics. From simplifying and comparing to mastering equivalents, improper, and mixed fractions – we're adding, subtracting, and simplifying our way through with enthusiasm! In English we are loving analysing and making inferences in our comprehension. Who knew English class would turn us into detectives? We’re cracking codes and reading between the lines like pros—Sherlock Holmes better watch out! Well done to all the Year 5 students who presented a leadership speech, you did us proud and we eagerly await the results. There are lots of exciting events on this term so make sure you keep up to date on the Parent Portal and Facebook.

3b with Miss Blissett

Term 4 has kicked off with energy and enthusiasm, making it an exciting time in the classroom! In English, we’ve been diving deep into the world of poetry, exploring the power of words and emotions, and refining our inferencing skills. Students have been challenged to look beyond the surface, drawing meaning from images and texts to discover hidden messages and themes. It’s been incredible to see their confidence grow as they piece together clues and express their interpretations. In Mathematics, we took on the challenge of mastering fractions—once a source of sighs and eye rolls! But through engaging activities, interactive lessons, and lots of practice, our class has transformed those initial groans into triumphs. We’ve gone from hesitantly tackling problems to confidently navigating fractions, celebrating each step toward greater understanding.

Library/STEM with miss donnellY

Library this month has been great. Students have been enjoying all the fabulous new books that we've been getting, thanks to the Book Fair and donations. Students who borrow with Miss Donnelly on Wednesday's have been enjoying getting scented bookmarks. Keep visiting the Library to change your books over.
STEM has been active in the Library this term. We've been enjoying the Junior Explorer Kit! These robots are the sphero indies and are controlled by remotes on iPhones. Students have been enjoying racing them around the Library, be sure you're careful where you step when you walk around.
