Persistence Pays Off: A Javelina Love Story
Shaquira Duncan '17 and Andrew Duncan '17 were both mechanical engineering majors. These Javelinas took separate career paths—one aviation, the other construction—but always held onto each other.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to alumni who have demonstrated longtime commitment to their careers and communities and have brought special honor to the university because of their accomplishments. Dean of College of Arts & Sciences to Retire
For 23 years, Dr. Dolores Guerrero has served Texas A&M-Kingsville as a dedicated faculty member and administrator, particularly as Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences for the last 10 years. This month, she shared her decision to retire. In her letter she said, “It has been an honor to be part of Javelina Nation and my heart will forever be etched with this special place.”

Meet the First Presser Scholar at Texas A&M-Kingsville
Becoming a graduate student 1,500 miles from home is not something Isla Coronado ’24 dreamed about when she started college. That was before Coronado caught the attention of the Presser Foundation—a Philadelphia-based non-profit committed to promoting the arts—and was chosen to be a part of their Undergraduate Scholar Program.

Student Athletes Wow in the Land of Enchantment
On Feb. 22, the women's 4x400m relay team not only set a new program record, at 3:39.62, they recorded the seventh-best time ever in Division II. The Men's and Women's Track & Field teams both placed second overall at the Lone Star Conference Championship meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As the Javelinas head into the NCAA Indoor National Championship meet Mar. 13-15, be sure to catch the action on Instagram.

The 1984 Cross Country Teams, Joe Cusack, Johnny Estelle ’98, ’99; Chris Hensley ’97, Loyd Lewis, and Naquisha Moulton ’04 were the inductees honored on Friday, Feb. 21.
