First Day of School

It was wonderful seeing all of you during schedule walk last week! All of the directors are super excited about the upcoming school year and it sounds like the students are excited to get back as well. I hope the kiddos have been practicing getting up early these last few days so they can be bright eyed and bushy tailed for school this Tuesday. Below are a few reminders for Band on the first day of school.

  1. Beginning Band Students do not need their instruments on the first day of school. We will have plenty going on, we want to make life easier for you. We will let each group know when it is time to start bringing their instruments.
  2. We will be going through all of the supplies for students during the first week. If a student is missing anything, we will be sending home a list of things they still need.
  3. Instruments are needed for all Symphonic Winds, Concert Band I, and Concert Band II students.
  4. Rogers will be on a normal 8 period day.
  5. Please make sure you have completed the Band Registration and Permission forms.
  6. Students not yet screened for a beginner instrument will be assessed during class throughout the week. We will contact all parents with the final results, in addition to sending material home to review.

Band Registration Forms

Band Registration should only take a few minutes to make sure we have all of the forms we need for the school year. Band Registration items can be completed online in the comfort of your own home, couch or office.

There is a link in the form to pay the band fee(s) with a credit card online. ***IMPORTANT: To avoid a processing fee, select “other” in the dropdown and type $0 located under “Contribution” in the order summary.***

The is also an option to pay with cash/check if you prefer. (**All Payments are deposited in our Rogers Band account within the Walnut Grove Band Booster Association** This HS booster club acts as an umbrella booster club for the MS)

Beginning Band Members: Order Your Supplies!!!!!

The start of the school year is just right around the corner! Make sure you don’t get behind by not having all of your supplies the first week of school. The music stores have already been scheduling deliveries for families who ordered early.

If you are still needing to reserve your instrument rental or purchase supplies, you can easily go online and reserve these items through any of our recommended vendors on the supply list.

Returning Students – Class Supplies

Please view the supply list for the required class supplies for all Symphonic Winds, Concert Band I & II students. We are asking all students to have their supplies by the end of the first full week of school 8/23. 7th graders and new to Rogers 8th graders will need to purchase the Foundations for Superior Performance book (Blue Book). This book is instrument specific so make sure you order the correct book for your instrument. You may purchase the book at a local music store or even online retailers like amazon carry them. Percussionists will not need this book.

Hawaiian Waters Celebration

All members of the Rogers, Hays, Jones, Rushing and Reynolds Bands (6th through 8th grade) are invited to participate in the optional Hawaiian Waters Celebration being held on Friday, August 30th from 5pm till 8pm. We have reserved the entire water park all to ourselves!!! That’s right… just the Rogers, Hays, Jones, Rushing and Reynolds Bands!!! The cost is $35 per person and is due on Monday, August 19th by the end of the day! Please see the attached flyer for more information regarding the celebration. The $35 fee will cover entrance to the park and a hamburger or hotdog, chips and a drink. A vegetarian option will also be available. HAWAIIAN WATERS 2024 FLYER

We would like to request the help of a few of our parents to help chaperone during our Hawaiian Falls Celebration on Friday, August 30th. We only have a few complimentary chaperone tickets available first come (email) first served. If you are available to attend and help us out, please contact Mrs. Williams (our new band director) at bcwilliams@prosper-isd.net.

SW, CBI, CBII – First Day of School Pep-Rally

Attention all performing band members. Mr. Jetton has asked all band members to welcome Rogers students back to school with a pep-rally on the very first day of school. We will play a few pep-tunes and the fight song along with the cheerleaders and drill team. Please click this link with more information and details. (Tentative Schedule)

  • Aug. 13th – First Day of School – Band Performs before School (SW, CBI, CBII ONLY - no beginning band)
  • Aug. 19th – Sectionals begin for SW – Sectional schedule will be sent out on 8/16
  • Aug. 19th – Hawaiian Waters Money Due
  • Aug. 30th – Hawaiian Water Social (Optional)
