Principals MESSAGE
Hello Families,
I am happy to be back at Dungog Public School as your Relieving Principal. Some of you may remember me from my time here as Relieving Principal in 2017 and I have seen some familiar faces in the last week or so. It has been great to make connections with staff and families again and see the respectful way our student conduct themselves.
In a staffing update, Mrs Middlebrook will take up the role of Relieving Assistant Principal after an Expression Of Interest process. This will be an on class position. We are currently undertaking a separate Expression of Interest process to fill the other Relieving Principal Position. With Miss Milgate moving on from our school, Miss Rodgers will be taking up the Stage 3 classroom teacher position.
Last week was Public Education Week and we joined the other schools in the Dungog and District Community of Schools for our celebration on Thursday night. It was a night full of performances although I must admit our Kinder kids were a standout and thank you to Miss Petersen for all her efforts. This week our school celebrations take place in conjunction with Book Week. It will be a busy week that our kids are looking forward to.
This week also sees our Zone Athletics competitors take to the track as part of the Maitland PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival. I am sure they will do us proud in their effort and the way they conduct themselves. Fingers crossed for a break in the weather for them.

EARLY STAGE 1 & STAGE 1 NEWS
KP with Miss Petersen
KP have had a fantastic start to Term 3, filled with exciting learning and a very special celebration — our 100 Days of Kindergarten! In English, we’ve been exploring new digraphs and learning how to write story orientations, setting the scene for our characters and adventures. In Mathematics, we’re combining numbers by counting on from the biggest number, helping us solve problems with confidence. In PDHPE, we’ve been learning all about keeping ourselves safe. In Music, we’ve been exploring different sounds and how they are made, and in Geography, we’ve started learning about places and what makes them special. This week, we are celebrating Education Week and can’t wait to see everyone dressed up for Book Week on Friday!
1L with Mrs Long
Welcome to the second half of the year! This term is going to be hectic with lots of activities especially in Week 4 with Education week, Science week and Book week. There will be further information about the activities planned for this week. Our class has settled into the work routine with a breeze, concentrating on our Reading, Spelling, Handwriting and Mathematics as our main focus. Everyone enjoyed coming in their pyjamas last week especially as it was such a cold day. Stage 1 have been issued with a new class novel for their homework activities and a choice board where they can choose to complete activities. Stay tuned for the planned activities in Week 4.

We can't wait to open our classrooms next week and show our parents the wonderful work we have been doing throughout the year!

release from face to face with Miss Muddle
We have certainly hit the ground running this term. I have been lucky enough to have spend a bit of time in 3B over the past few weeks getting them settled back into routine and working hard on their Persuasive Writing and Maths topics. I can't wait to get in and visit more classrooms this week and see what everyone has been up to. I hope everyone has their Book Week costumes ready for Friday; I can't wait to hear all about them!

This week is extra special with Science Week, Book Week and Education Week happening, so we have lots of fun activities planned and can’t wait to welcome you into our classroom. STAGE 2 & STAGE 3 NEWS
2M with Miss Maytom
Welcome Back to Term 3! We’re so excited to be back and diving into a term packed with learning, creativity, and hands-on fun — both inside and outside the classroom! Our novel study of Matilda has been a huge hit! Students have loved exploring the clever language techniques and rich themes in each chapter. A big favourite has been our deep dive into fair vs unfair treatment, where students created persuasive arguments justifying their own cheeky pranks — so parents, consider yourselves warned! In Mathematics, we've been super busy covering all sorts of content. We've tackled fractions and their decimal conversions, and had a splash exploring capacity with hands-on water measuring activities. Expect a few junior kitchen assistants coming your way soon! Over in Geography, we’ve been exploring Australia’s neighbours using Google Earth — discovering nearby countries and learning why they matter to us. It's been a fun and eye-opening journey across the globe. CAPA has kicked off with a bang (literally!) as we jump into beats, rhythm, and musical creativity — there’s been no shortage of enthusiasm or toe-tapping in our classroom! We’re really looking forward to celebrating Education Week and of course, the always-fabulous Book Parade. It’s shaping up to be another magical term, and we can’t wait to share more of it with you!
2V with Mrs middlebrook
Welcome to Term 3 in 2V, where we have started off with a bang! Our classroom is buzzing with enthusiasm as we showcase our personal best in all we do. This term, we are diving into the enchanting world of Roald Dahl’s Matilda, where we are thoroughly enjoying the characters and making meaningful connections to the text. In Geography, we’re embarking on an exciting journey to explore Australia and its neighbours, discovering the rich tapestry of cultures and landscapes that surround us. Our musical adventures in CAPA will open our ears and hearts to the world of music, encouraging creativity and expression. We are looking forward to Week 4, where we will celebrate Education Week and shine a spotlight on the amazing things our students accomplish every day. The anticipation is building for our Book Parade—what fabulous characters will 2V bring to life this year? In Mathematics, we continue to delve into new content and learn fresh strategies daily, fostering a growth mindset that empowers us to tackle challenges with confidence. I am thrilled for the term ahead and can’t wait to embark on these wonderful adventures together as a class! Let’s make it a memorable one, 2V!
3D with miss donnellY
Welcome back to another term, we're refreshed and ready to be active learners in our environment. We're striving this term to show respect and responsibility to all in 3D and have been discussing ways in which it can be done in the classroom, in the playground and at home. This term we continue to look at Persuasive Writing in English and the various ways in which we can persuade people of our opinions. We're looking at the OREO structure for our paragraphs to ensure that we're convincing people of our ideas and opportunities.
3c with Mrs Coleman
A bit of rain never rained on our parade in 3C! We have been working hard on our Persuasive Writing and finding topics that require us to think deeply about the world around us. In Mathematics, we've been working on a new Daily Review to help us take learning to our long term memory. We are looking forward to Education Week and all the fun activities! See you all on Thursday!
3b with Miss Blissett
In English, 3B has been polishing their persuasive writing skills by adding counterarguments and strong rebuttals to make their points more convincing. We’ve been working on seeing both sides of an issue and choosing just the right words to win over our readers. In Mathematics, we’ve been exploring division and diving into the world of decimals — reading and writing them, and breaking them into their place value parts to see exactly how they work. Our PDHPE lessons have had us thinking like safety detectives, spotting the clues that tell us when a situation is safe or unsafe and learning how to make smart choices to protect ourselves and others. Meanwhile, our Geography adventures have taken us across the globe, exploring the fascinating biomes that make our planet so diverse. We’re counting down the days to Book Week and can’t wait to see the creative costumes that will bring our favourite characters to life next week!
Library/STEM with miss donnellY
Book Week is upon us!! Welcome to a fantastic week filled with sharing the love of reading with our students! The Book Fair is ready, dressed to the nines for our under the sea theme, and ready for students to buy. We've got picture books, novels, non-fiction, and graphic novels as well as posters and stationary. Check Facebook for the QR code to pay or send students with money to collect what they need. While we're talking Facebook, keep your eyes peeled for the week's worth of videos, lots of familiar and new faces are popping in to check out the book fair. As for STEM we have got a new kit that our school has never tried, the aeroponics kit! This garden grows plants without the need of soil! Students are looking forward to seeing the seedlings grow and we're getting ready to plant them in the garden to watch them thrive. Check back in week 8 to find out how our growing is going.
