Commercial Art 1 Portfolio By Libby snavely

This logo was designed for a snowboarding company called “Xtreme Latitude”. When designing this logo, I aimed to convey an overall theme of winter and adventure. I have a strong background in graphic design, which was established through the color palette. The contrast between the light and dark blue creates a striking visual effect in which both colors stand out against each other. This technique helps the company establish a strong brand identity that distinguishes it from competitors. The letters “M” and “E” in “Xtreme” were designed to represent a mountain and snowboard bindings, respectively, which further emphasize the wintery theme. Over all, my logo design for Xtreme Latitude effectively communicates the company’s vision.
I took a creative approach with this project and created a snowman made of sand at the beach, enjoying the summer sun with sunglasses and a popsicle. I kept the design simple, using basic shapes and shading. Small details such as grains of sand, rocks, and different cloud shapes were added to give depth and interest to the design. A warm color palette was used, with cool accent colors like teal and purple to make the piece visually striking.
This second snowboard design features a unique color palette of muted tones like black, gray, off-white, and indigo, contrasted by a bold pop of neon lime green. The overall mood of the piece was inspired by graffiti and a paint-splattered mess. This was achieved through the use of overlapping objects and a messy, graffiti-like font on the underside of the board. The halftone dots were used to give the board texture and depth, although I wish the pattern was smaller.
My shoe design features a unique fabric combination of hot pink and black and white checkered fabric for the design. A dashed brush was used to create the stitching. For the bottom of the shoe, I spent time creating detailed designs with vector shapes and designed a pattern to add the light gray stripes. The meticulous details and careful use of textures and colors give this design a distinctive and high-quality look.
This design was inspired by minimalist artist Adam G's "MessyMod" illustrations. I had fun creating this piece out of geometric shapes, which is a technique that I don't normally use. It was interesting to see a creature come to life out of a few simple shapes and colors. To balance out the simplicity of this illustration style, I gave the crab a dynamic pose. Overall, I'm pleased with how this piece turned out and encourage viewers experiment with art styles that are different from their own.
