Vision Screening
The Macomb County Health Department will be at Middle School East Wednesday, January 21st doing vision screening for our 7th graders. There is a small list of 8th graders that will need to be screened as well. If your student is prescribed glasses or contacts, please make sure they wear them that day. If you do not want your student to participate in the vision screening, please send a letter with your student to give to Mrs. Brossoit in the main office as soon as possible.
Coding Club
We are excited to announce that we will be launching an MSE Coding Club. It is a student lead, designed, and inspired club! If your child is interested in joining, please fill out the interest survey below. You can email Mr. MacIntosh at macinza@lc-ps.org with any questions.

Support Checklist
As we are just about at the conclusion of Semester 1 and heading into Semester 2, now is a good time to remind parents how you can help us raise academic expectations with your child and help them be academically successful! Parents and guardians play a powerful role in student success. Here are some simple ways you can support your child academically and help them stay on track. Together, we can help students build strong habits, confidence, and academic success. Thank you for partnering with us!

Positive Referrals This Week (week of Jan. 5-9)
The following students were recognized with a "positive referral" to the office the week before break for exhibiting one of our MSE Character Traits or other positive behaviors! Thanks for being great!
Monthly Positive Behavior Raffle
We held our monthly "Positive Behavior Raffle" at Grade Level Meetings this past Wednesday. The next raffle will be held Wednesday December 17 during grade level meetings! Students who were referred to the office for positive behavior were entered into a random wheel and selected to come up and pick prizes. Thank you to all the students for setting a positive example for others and to the PCC for supporting the prizes along with parents who donated! If you as a parent would like to donate to the raffle you can do so with the amazon list below or support the PCC! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JH35Q7JGAINL?ref_=wl_share
Every school day matters. When students are healthy and able to attend, it gives them the chance to keep learning, connect with friends, and grow both socially and academically. Please remember to use the district calendar posted at www.lc-ps.org to plan your vacations and trips for the remainder of the school year. Students have many breaks and opportunities to take trips that don't impact their learning. Your support makes such a difference in helping children feel connected and prepared. If a child is sick, a doctor or urgent care note should accompany that absence or doctors note for appointments. Any other absence will count as verified or unverified and will count towards possible filing of truancy charges once your student generates over 10 absences this year. Please reach out to your child's counselor, or the main office, if you need any help with regular attendance.

MSE/LCPS Communication
We utilize the district's School Messenger platform to send out updates to parents, students, and staff. If you are not receiving School Messenger emails, please contact the main office and we can get you set up. There are times we also send out reminder text messages about upcoming events, or important information, if you have opted out in the past, please use the steps below to opt in for text messages as this is the easiest way to get a quick communication from MSE. This would also enroll you into district text messages for things like Snow Days or Emergency Communications from LCPS
