Next we presented the Midwestern states, which includes our state, Michigan.

Next we took a closeup look at our state. Michigan has two parts - an upper and lower peninsula. A peninsula is a piece of land with water on 3 sides.

landform of peninsula

Michigan's upper peninsula looks like a running rabbit. The lower peninsula looks like a mitten. We live in the lower peninsula.

UP/LP cut and paste

Michigan is surrounded by 5 great lakes. The largest lake is named Superior. These facts led to discussing another land form - lake. A lake is a body of water completely surrounded by land.

We had 2 celebrations. Natalie Tracey and Rylan Pullukat celebrated with the class. Happy 3rd year of Life, Natalie and Happy 5th Year of Life, Rylan!

Here's our poem for December! All the months go past. Each is like a guest; December is the last, December is the best. Each has lovely things; each one is a friend. But December brings Christmas at the end! And here we are almost at Christmas and another year's beginning. I wish you all "Good Tidings of Comfort AND Joy"!

Cheers - from all of us to all of you!
