Eye Exams

  • All 5th grade, 8th grade, or new-to-Zionsville Schools students will have a vision screening at school on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023.
  • If your student wears glasses or contacts, please encourage them to wear them for the screening.
  • The Indiana Department of Education requires annual vision screening for all first, third, fifth and eighth graders, special education students, newly enrolled students and those suspected of having visual defects. This screening is performed by the Lions Club of Zionsville. Students who test at 20/40 or above will be recommended for further examination. This screening does not replace a complete eye evaluation given by a physician but is a fair assessment of visual acuity.
  • If your child is recommended for a follow up visit, please let us know the results of that exam after they have visited the doctor. (mlafontaine@zcs.k12.in.us)
  • If you need assistance with your child’s vision referral for financial or other reasons, the Lions Club of Zionsville may have resources to assist.

BLOCK SCHEDULE

  • With our Veteran’s Day Program coming up, we will be following a Block Schedule on Thursday & Friday, November 9th & 10th. Teachers have already begun planning for this different arrangement of time so that we can utilize it in ways that allow for more full cycles of instruction and better connections.
  • In the days leading up to it, we will communicate with students about this schedule so that they are well prepared, and we hope that their experience is a positive one.
Please join us November 20th from 6-8 p.m. in the Zionsville Community High School Star Bank Performing Arts Center for a free two-hour child abuse prevention training. Professionals from our local child advocacy center will provide training for those who work closely with children in a wide range of roles. After attending this training, you will better understand the scope of the issue, be prepared to take actionable steps toward both preventing and responding to child abuse and be equipped to create overall safer environments for the children in our community. The training session will act as a guide for developing protective behaviors against child abuse. We hope to see you for this important conversation in Boone County. Please feel free to share this invitation with others who might be interested. The children in our community need champions to help protect and support them each day. Register at THIS LINK.
