PRINCIPAL’S COLUMN
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of Term 1. It has been a productive term, filled with numerous events and achievements that highlight the dedication of our students, staff and families.
Parent Teacher Evenings
I would like to extend my gratitude to all the parents and carers who attended our Parent Teacher Evenings last Tuesday for Years 8, 10, and 12. Your active participation and engagement play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the educational outcomes of our students. These evenings are a wonderful opportunity for parents and teachers to collaborate and discuss the progress and aspirations of our students. I am looking forward to welcoming the parents of Years 7, 9, and 11 tomorrow night Tuesday 8 April. Your involvement is greatly appreciated and makes a significant difference in our school community.
STEM Olympiad
Our recent STEM Olympiad was a resounding success, and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Mr Wiggins and Mrs Edwards for their meticulous organisation. This event was a celebration of innovation and creativity, bringing together talented students from CLC Primary schools and T5 High Schools. The presence of esteemed presenters from Southern Cross University, Griffith University, and Gilmour Space offered our students invaluable insights into the world of STEM. Such events are pivotal in inspiring our students to pursue their passions and push the boundaries of their potential.
ANZAC Day
As ANZAC Day approaches, we are reminded of the importance of reflection and remembrance. Our school assembly will be held on Wednesday 9 April, where we will honour the sacrifices made by our service men and women. We are incredibly proud that Kingscliff High School students have been invited to participate in the local ANZAC ceremonies at Kingscliff and Pottsville. Our School Captains, Archie Shipley and Beatrice Spaulding, along with Vice Captain Bronte Rylance, will be delivering keynote speeches, showcasing their leadership and commitment to our community. Maizy Toole and Holly Newman will grace the ceremonies with their renditions of the National Anthems, and Jimmy Harry will have the honour of acknowledging country at Kingscliff. These opportunities not only honour our past but also instil a sense of pride and responsibility in our students.
Term 2
Looking ahead to Term 2, I want to highlight our Staff Development Days scheduled for the start of next term on Monday 28 April and Tuesday 29 April. These days are dedicated to professional growth, focusing on enhancing our teaching practices and strategies with an emphasis on High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE). Additionally, we will be refining our consistent approach to student wellbeing and behaviour management, ensuring that our school environment remains supportive and nurturing for all students.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that all students will return to school on Wednesday 30 April 2025. As we approach the Easter holiday, I wish each member of our school community a restful and joyous break.
Thank you for your continued support.
