BOYS BASKETBALL
MIDDLE SCHOOL On Monday night, the St. James Middle School B-Team boys fought with everything they had but came up just two points short, falling 25–23 to the Waccamaw Middle Warriors. The Sharks battled to the final buzzer in a hard-fought matchup. Congratulations to our B-Team boys for their effort, teamwork, and energy on the court as they took care of business and secured the win over Ocean Bay 38-23.
JV On Monday night, the St. James Sharks JV team fell 37–30 in a hard-fought matchup. Despite a strong effort, the Sharks couldn’t close the gap late but continue to show improvement each game. This weekend the boys JV team traveled to Carvers Bay for the Fred Jiles Invitational. Your Sharks put together an impressive performance coming away with the Championship.
VARSITY St. James varsity picked up another impressive win on Monday night, defeating Wando 57–42. The Sharks controlled the pace throughout the game, using strong defense and balanced scoring to secure the victory. With the win, the boys varsity team improves to a perfect 5–0 on the season and continues to build early momentum. Go Sharks! Thank you to everyone who helped make The Shark Tank the best home venue in the state this season. The energy was electric once again Tuesday night as the St. James boys varsity basketball team played their final home game of 2025 on Tuesday night. The Sharks showed another impressive performance with a commanding 68–44 victory over Marion. The offense was clicking on all cylinders as Peter George, KK Morris, Kingston Coles, and Elijah Coles all finished in double figures, showcasing the balance and depth that have fueled the team’s strong start. The Sharks will return home after the new year, hosting Myrtle Beach on January 6, 2026.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
MIDDLE SCHOOL On Monday night, the St. James Middle School B-Team girls battled hard but came up short against Waccamaw Middle School, falling 17–6. Dionna Holmes led the Sharks in scoring, showing strong effort throughout the game. Wednesday night our B-Team girls played with determination and showed tremendous resilience throughout their game, though they were ultimately unable to overcome the deficit.
JV On Monday night, the St. James JV girls basketball team battled hard but came up short against the Wando Warriors, falling 52–16. The young Sharks continued to compete throughout the game and will look to bounce back in their next matchup. Congrats to our JV Girls and their amazing coaches for coming in 2nd at the Fred Jiles JV Tournament! Girls battled hard to beat Carolina Forest in the first game and lost a hard fought championship game against Socastee! The JV Girls will travel to Marion on Wednesday to wrap up their non-region action before their holiday break!
VARSITY The Lady Sharks bounced back in a big way Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought victory over a very good Marion Lady Swamp Foxes squad. Freshman standout Leila Yandle led the charge, pouring in a game-high 23 points to pace St. James. It was a strong team response and a confidence-building win as the Lady Sharks continue to grow early in the season. Lady Sharks respond to last week’s loss with a swarming defense of their own to move to 5-2 on the season defeating Waccamaw 60-17. The Lady Sharks don’t get much turn around and head to Wando on Monday for their final non-region game before Christmas tournaments start.
WRESTLING
12/8 The Middle School Wrestling Sharks continue to swim forward in their winning ways, adding two more victories to their undefeated season. The Sharks first took down the Forestbrook Gators, then quickly turned around and handled the Conway Tigers. With the pair of wins, the Sharks improve to 5-0 on the year. Up next, this Wednesday the Middle School Sharks and JV Sharks will travel alongside the Varsity squad to Carvers Bay, where they’ll face Carvers Bay and Lake City. 12/10 The Varsity Wrestling Sharks continue swimming in the right direction, dominating the mat once again with a 77–6 victory over the Lake City Panthers and a 73–6 win over Carvers Bay. With tonight’s sweep, the Sharks improve to an impressive 10–0 on the season. They now set their sights on the Shark Duals, hosted right here at St. James this Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Come out and support your undefeated Sharks! 12/13 The St. James varsity wrestling team put together a perfect day on the mat, going 5–0 and capping it off with a thrilling win over James Island in the final match of the night to claim the Shark Duals Championship. With the title on the line, Hayes Cochrane delivered in the final bout, securing the match-winning victory to seal the championship for the Sharks. The Sharks continue their dominant run, now 15–0 on the season with two tournament championships already in hand.
