Walsh Construction building Nationwide Children's Hospital's largest ever investment
Columbus, Ohio - Nationwide Children’s Hospital is expanding to meet the needs of its patients with a new 14-story acute care tower - the largest investment in the hospital’s history. This one billion dollar project will add more than 430 new beds, a three-floor NICU, expanded surgical space, and a seamlessly integrated emergency department to enhance life-saving care. The new tower will merge into some of the existing facilities in the current building, most notably the emergency department.
The tower will further enhance the massive, vertical growth of Nationwide Children’s campus and will become a significant part of the Columbus skyline as drivers move along I-70 in Downtown Columbus. This transformative project will shape the future of pediatric healthcare, and Walsh Construction is proud to build it alongside joint venture partner Turner Construction Company.
Archer Western achieves substantial completion of Baggage Handling Project at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport
Sarasota, Florida - Archer Western has achieved substantial completion of the Baggage Handling System Consolidation Project at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Over the course of 25 months and 15 phases of construction, alongside our incredible project partners, our team has successfully delivered a major upgrade to one of the country’s fastest-growing airports.
With more than 3,200 feet of new conveyor, the project consolidates three aging baggage systems into a modern, high-capacity operation-boosting screening capacity by 325% and significantly enhancing efficiency, capacity and reliability.

Throughout the week, Walsh Construction and Archer Western job sites and offices celebrated women in the workforce and their contributions to the construction industry. Teams came together to honor the talented women who are helping shape the industry while raising awareness of opportunities available to women.
Over the course of the week, our jobsites and offices participated in various events and activities to recognize the influential women of construction. The Walsh Group celebrated around the central message of “Accelerate Action,” which further emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. The theme called for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systematic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

Western North Carolina - It’s been 150 days since Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina, leaving communities to face immense challenges and disruption. Archer Western powers ahead on the expansion of Arcadia Lake Water Treatment Plant
Edmond, Oklahoma - Recent photos from Archer Western showcase progress on the expansion of the Arcadia Lake Water Treatment Plant. Work continues at the new high lift pump station with the piping inside the structure which will continue for the next year. The electrical, mechanical, masonry and roofing work has continued including the installation of the roof system.
Additionally, The granular activated carbon (GAC) filter building slab and the walls to enclose the structure are completed. Effluent piping is currently being installed. Both of the four million gallon clearwell tanks are nearly complete and the tanks have been partially filled for leak testing and placed in standby until they are ready for use. Crews continued work on the clearwell distribution structure and that work will continue through the end of the year. The electrical and emergency generator building is well underway. The under-slab conduits and structure for the generator pads has been placed in addition to electrical vaults surrounding the structure.
Archer Western advancing on Johnny G. Martinez Water Treatment Plant Improvements Project
Tempe, Arizona - At the Johnny G. Martinez Water Treatment Plant Improvements Project, Archer Western has completed the underground piping for the granular activated carbon (GAC) facility with the pipe runs now continuing towards the pump station. In addition, the main facility slab/foundational work has commenced and preparations have been finalized for the first of three total plant shutdowns required to connect the new infrastructure with the current plant operations.
Archer Western is providing Construction Manager at-Risk (CMAR) services for the addition of a new GAC pump station, filter backwash pump station and constant head tower, along with sitewide concrete rehabilitation. The project is anticipated to be complete in 2027.
Archer Western completes 274th and final bridge deck pour at I-95 Express Lanes Phase 3C
Fort Lauderdale, Florida - The I-95 Express Lanes Phase 3C project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of its final concrete bridge deck pour, a testament to the relentless dedication of the Archer Western and deMoya crews. After placing 19,770 cubic yards of concrete across 274 bridge deck pours, the project team, supported by subcontractors and the Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team, celebrated this major achievement, marking another step forward in enhancing the region's infrastructure.
The overall I-95 Express Lanes Phase 3C project will extend the existing Express Lanes north from just south of Hollywood Boulevard to just south of Broward Boulevard in Broward County. One lane will be added and the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane will be converted to create two Express Lanes in each direction.
Ohio State University Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex Phase 2 surpasses 50% completion
Columbus, Ohio - Work on the Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex (BMEC) Phase 2 is passing the halfway point, at nearly 53% complete. Crews are preparing to pour the second interior stairwell and then will be able to remove the exterior temporary set. Crews are also working on installing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) hangers throughout the building. Construction progress includes:
- Pouring concrete in several locations in the coming days.
- Installing MEP hangers, above ceiling and wall rough-ins.
- Digging to install footers.
- Air handler installed on roof.
Walsh Construction is delivering The Biomedical and Materials Engineering Complex Phase 2, a $94.3 million project that included the demolition of Watts Hall and renovates existing MacQuigg Hall while adding an addition which will house research and teaching labs, collaboration spaces, offices and classroom spaces.

This pathway provides students with up to 7 industry recognized credentials that lead to lucrative careers.
Archer Western celebrates Family Day at Howard Frankland Bridge

Families enjoyed a day filled with food, games, and exclusive access to explore the newly constructed bridge spanning Old Tampa Bay. The event offered unique vantage points of the impressive structure, showcasing the intricate details and scale of the project. It was a heartfelt moment of pride for the team to reveal the fruits of their years of hard work to those closest to them.
The joint venture of Archer Western and Traylor Bros., built the new three-mile bridge to the north of the current southbound interstate bridge. The structure features four southbound general purpose lanes, two southbound express lanes, two northbound express lanes, as well as a shared use path and accommodations for a potential light rail system.
DFW Airport shares views of Terminal F Pre-Fabrication Site
Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas - DFW Airport has released aerial footage showing the pre-fabrication site for the new Terminal F. Three modules have come to life, with a fourth module in the making, at the Terminal F pre-fabrication site where DFW is taking modular construction to an all-new scale for airports with plans to bring six of these megastructures together to create our new sixth terminal. Terminal F is being constructed by the Archer Western-led joint venture of Innovation Next+. The new terminal, which will feature a double-loaded concourse with 15 gates and modernized customer amenities. Using modular techniques takes core construction activity away from the terminal area, reducing operational impacts to customers and airline partners.
Columbus' NBC4 takes exclusive look inside The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Inpatient Hospital
Columbus, Ohio - At 26 stories tall and nearly two million square feet, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s new hospital tower will be the tallest structure on the Ohio State campus. Columbus’ NBC4 recently took an exclusive tour of the construction process, as the hospital, being built by Walsh Construction and Turner Construction, is on pace to open early in 2026.
