JORDAN & EIMY JASPE Serving the Lord in Colombia

Hi! we are jordan and eimy jaspe,

A family with a desire to serve God full time as cross-cultural missionaries, taking the Gospel to where it has not been preached.

Jordan

27 years old

“FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS, GOD HAS ALLOWED ME TO BE PART OF THE LEADERSHIP OF A SMALL CHURCH IN FUSAGASUGÁ, COLOMBIA.”

“For 4 years I prepared myself within a missionary training with the Global Partners organization.”

Eimy

26 years old

“I STUDIED NURSING WITH THE PURPOSE OF USING IT AS A TOOL TO SERVE THE LORD.”

“I am finishing my missionary training with Global Partners.”

WE BOTH GREW UP IN VENEZUELA INFLUENCED BY THE MINISTRY OF OUR PARENTS IN CROSS-CULTURAL MISSIONS.
AND TOGETHER, WE WANT TO SERVE THE LORD FULL TIME AMONG AN UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUP.

Currently, Eimy is finishing her cross-cultural missionary training at New Horizons Missionary Institute. In December she will graduate and we are waiting for direction from God through our church leaders to take the next step.

After 4 years of missionary training in Colombia, we know of Colombian ethnic groups that are in need of missionaries.

There is a specific tribal ethnic group that we have been praying for and have an interest in:

THE TUCANO PEOPLE

The Tucano are an ethnic group of animist beliefs (in animism, salvation is obtained by the individual through rituals and the manipulation of spirits) that is in great need of missionaries.

LOCATION

TUCANOS ARE FOUND IN SOUTH AMERICA, IN REGIONS ALONG THE VAUPÉS RIVER, BOTH IN COLOMBIA AND BRAZIL.

They have a population of about 7,060 people in Colombia.

STATUS

THERE ARE ONLY TWO small CHURCHES AMONG ALL THE TUCANO COMMUNITIES. BUT THEY PREACH IN SPANISH, NOT IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE.

There is a translation of the Bible into the Tucano language, but it needs revision by someone who knows their culture - not just the language.

MISSIONARIES

Currently, there is only one missionary family working among them: the Keefe family.

CHALLENGES

MOVING TO THE SITE

The entrance to the community from the village includes a small plane ride. The cost of the trip is high.

MOVING TO THE SITE

The other alternative to enter the community is by river.

This is more physically demanding and takes about three days.

We are willing to join the team and work together reaching the Tucano people.

Goals

SHORT-TEARM GOALS

2024-2025

  1. Finish the missionary training.
  2. Propose and choose a ministry project with our leadership.
  3. Plan and do a survey trip to the community.
  4. Raise financial support.
WHILE DOING THIS, WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO SPEND TIME WITH OUR SENDING CHURCH “IGLESIA BAUTISTA HISPANA WINCHESTER”.
IN ORDER TO DO THIS, WE NEED A VISA FOR THE UNITED STATES. THE WAITING TIME IS MORE THAN TWO YEARS. JOIN US IN PRAYING FOR A MIRACLE.

MEDIUM-TERM GOALS

2026-2027

  1. Plan the entrance to the community (logistics).
  2. Community entry.
  3. Initiate the Language and Culture Acquisition (LCA) process.

LONG-TERM GOALS

2028-2038

  1. Finalize the LCA process.
  2. Begin preparation of teaching materials (review of Bible translation and preparation of Bible lessons).
  3. Literacy (teach reading and writing in Tucano -if necessary).
  4. Begin with Fundamental Bible Teaching.
DURING THIS TIME, WE WANT TO INCLUDE AT LEAST TWO VISITS TO OUR SENDING CHURCH.
JOIN US!

WANT TO JOIN US?

There are 4 ways you can join this family and the Tucano Project:

1) Be part of the team of Prayer Supporters:

Receive the monthly letters and prayer requests from the team, and pray for us! We can't do it alone. Prayer supporters mean the world to us and really help us stay encouraged! We would really appreciate it if you could join this team.

2) Be part of the team of Encouragement Supporters:

Being within an indigenous community isolated from family and friends, loneliness can begin to generate discouragement. Write us a message! A verse, an exhortation, anything that can lift your spirits to keep up the work.

3) Be part of the team of Financial Supporters:

As full-time cross-cultural missionaries, we depend on God's provision for our livelihood. And one of the ways He provides is through our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. Would you like to join us and help us continue doing this work?

4) Go to Missionary Training and work within the tribe!

PRAY WITH US
  • For direction from the Lord through our leaders and pastors about ministry.
  • For a team of prayer supporters.
  • For a team of encouragement supporters.
  • For a team of financial supporters.
  • For more members for the missionary team in this place.
