Willy Wonka Musical

Taco Challenge!

Students in Home Ec were competing in our annual Balanced Flavor Taco Challenge competition on Thursday and Friday. It’s been VERY IMPRESSIVE to watch everyone’s culinary skills in action!

6th Graders go to the Children's Creativity Museum

6th grade year-long art class goes to the Children's Creativity Museum - learns stop motion, digital art, and mystery box challenge!

A Seat at the Table

For Women’s History Month 2026, Ms. Vallarino’s and Mr. Frost’s art classes collaborated together with Librarian Ms. Cloues to create a special art installation for Roosevelt Middle School entitled: A Seat at the Table. Students were given time to research a significant woman, past or present, who they felt some kind of personal connection to. In paired partnerships, they took on the role of chair designer to develop and create a chair for their chosen "client". They conducted research, drafted sketches, identified materials, and crafted a chair that fit the personality of their client while concurrently teaching others about her importance in society. Stop Motion Animation

RMS Art classes has been working on stop motion animation films using modeling clay, cardboard, hot glue and creativity! The following films were shot with school iPads using the free app iMotion. Students learned about set design, character design and directing.  Each film is 1-2 min long, some teams even added sound effects. 8th Grade Field Trip to the de Young Museum

8th grade Art Elective students this year had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a field trip to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. This world class museum is only a few blocks away from RMS and many students have never been. Students were able to see how manga (Japanese comics) are printed and were able to sketch in their art journals while exploring the museum.

So much fun!
