Plat Douet School Newsletter

Friday 5th June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting half term. I hope you all had a restful break and that our pupils  are ready to learn and enjoy the weeks ahead. I am personally delighted to be back in school after spending the past two and a half terms working for Government of Jersey.  It has been wonderful to reconnect with pupils, staff and families. We have a busy and engaging half term planned, with plenty of opportunities for pupils to learn, achieve and enjoy new experiences. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Best wishes, Phil Walker

The Douet Destroyers Cheerleading Team

Introducing our 2026/2027 Douet Destroyers Cheerleading team. They have been working extremely hard and are extremely exited to be making their debut performance at sports day on the 8th July. Over the year they will be attending events, delivering show stopping performances and helping within the community. Keep your eyes peeled!

Peer Mediation Graduation Ceremony

We are so proud of Austin and Kalina who represented our Peer Mediators at a celebration evening at Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa. They spoke confidently in two languages about the importance of peer mediation and the positive impact it has with our school community. An amazing achievement from both children - they were fantastic ambassadors for the school!

Nursey Parents

Nursery will be having an animal dress up fun day on Thursday 18th June.  Please come to Nursery dressed up as your favourite animal and please bring a small donation of £2 if you can, this will go towards giving the children lots of fun and exciting treats before we break up for the summer.  We will be having lots of fun animal activities throughout the day for the children to enjoy.

Snapchat and WhatsApp

We are aware that some primary-aged children are already using messaging apps such as Snapchat and WhatsApp to communicate with friends. While these apps can be a great way to stay connected, they can also expose children to inappropriate content, unkind messages, group chat pressures and contact from people they do not know. Please take time to talk with your child about how they use these apps, who they are communicating with and what they should do if something online makes them feel uncomfortable. Remind them never to share personal information, passwords or photos with people they do not know. Regular conversations at home are one of the most effective ways to help children stay safe online.

Useful guides for parents:

Sun Hats and Cream!

With summer approaching, can you please ensure that your child comes to school everyday with a labelled hat, suncream applied and a water bottle that can be refilled as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation.
