A Message from the Headteacher

Please see the link above - Easy Fundraising can work for Birkwood!

Welcome to our newsletter. The warmer weather has been very well received in school by children and staff!  I want to kick off this newsletter by extending an enormous, heartfelt thank you to every single member of our wonderful community for your incredible support for Comic Relief this year!  It’s amazing to see everyone pull together with such spirit and kindness. Thanks to all of you, we've managed to raise a truly fantastic sum that will make a real difference to people's lives, both here in the UK and around the world. We couldn't be prouder of the Birkwood spirit! As a school, we're incredibly proud of our strong community spirit, and that extends to how we interact with our neighbours and ensure everyone's safety. With that in mind, we wanted to share a couple of important reminders about parking, particularly around Moorland Terrace. We know how busy drop-off and pick-up can be, and we appreciate everyone's efforts. However, we've had some reports of driveways being blocked and parking that has created safety concerns for pedestrians on Moorland Terrace. We ask that everyone please take an extra moment to park considerately, ensuring that our neighbours' driveways are kept clear and that visibility for children crossing the road remains unobstructed. This small act of kindness and thoughtfulness makes a huge difference to our local residents and, most importantly, keeps our children safe. Please remember that the Pinfold Car Park offers an alternative for parking. It's just a short walk away and helps us keep the immediate vicinity of the school clear for potentially critical moments. Your support really helps us maintain a safe and accessible environment for everyone. I wanted to send a massive thank you to everyone who supported our School Disco.  From the children who brought their best dance moves, to our wonderful staff volunteers led by Miss Tayor & Mrs. Whitfield who helped organise, supervise, and make sure everything ran smoothly, the enthusiasm from all made it a brilliant evening. Bingo was also this week - a brilliant night of dabbers, calls, and fun! I wanted to extend a massive thank you to everyone who came along and supported it. It was wonderful to see so many families and friends gathered together trying their luck. A special shout-out also goes to everyone who helped organise and run the event – your time and effort are always so appreciated!

House Party update - Huge congratulations to Team Earth, who enjoyed our latest House Party Prize last week see some photos below! For their well-deserved reward, Team Earth enjoyed a super fun McDonald's party, and by all accounts, the children absolutely loved every minute of it!

House Party

Thank you to families who have visited school as part of our Open Classroom sessions. Year 3 Jemison (Mrs. Lavender), Year 5 Biles (Mr. Markham) and Y5/6 Simpson (Miss Whyke) have been in the spotlight this week – we love to share what we’ve been up to! Miss Sabin's class (Berry) will be rearranged.   Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend and support the children – your support makes a real difference and helps to further strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Parents Classroom Sessions

Thank you to everyone for supporting our Book Fair. Kelly was fantastic with the children and her brilliant organisation ensured the day ran smoothly. Thank you to Mrs. Wilkie for making it happen! Kelly wrote to us afterwards.   “I just wanted to say thank you for inviting me into your lovely school today. I had a wonderful day and would just like to mention how polite and well-mannered the children were when they came to visit me.“

Brilliant Book Fair

From the Sports’ Pitch – a massive well done to our brilliant football team who completely dominated their recent match against Ladywood, securing an astonishing 11-0 victory!  What an phenomenal result! They played with such passion and skill, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievement! A thank you and massive congratulations also go to Mr. Dickson and Mr. Walton (and all the staff who support our sports teams!) for their dedication, expert coaching and guidance.
