END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS Next week marks the end of a slightly shorter term. As is usual practice, the term concludes with a whole school assembly in the gymnasium commencing at 2.05pm, with students dismissed for the holiday break at 2.30pm. Term 4 resumes on Monday, October 6.

MURAL We hope that you like the mural on the ramp at Lascelles Avenue which has taken shape over the last week. Hayden Dewar is our mural artist, and he is doing a wonderful job enhancing that part of the school. If you haven’t seen it as yet, make sure you cruise past the ramp at some stage in upcoming days!!

PARENT OPINION SURVEY You will know of my recent reminders about completing the parent opinion survey, a link to which you will have been advised of a few weeks back. Sometimes, people only complete surveys if they have something in mind to mention that will improve a school or, indeed, something that they aren’t happy about it. We remain sincerely committed to improving our school if that is the case and open to taking on such feedback. By the same token, feel free to complete the survey and rave about us if you like – we also love positive feedback!! Last week I received a friendly reminder that as at 2pm 2 September 2025, our (the Department’s) system indicated that only 38 parents/caregivers/guardians at our school have completed the survey (8%). I encourage you to complete the survey by Friday 19 September, as feedback is an important part of understanding school experiences and shaping improvement.

WORKING BEE The term 3 working bee has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 14 commencing at 9am (or thereabouts). Please come for as long as you can, as all help and support is greatly appreciated. The sign on sheet will be near the rotunda, and there will be plenty to do regardless of your skill set!!

STATE SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR The week got off to a pulsating start with our 16 State Schools Spectacular dancers performing two of their seven dances for everyone’s enjoyment at Monday morning’s assembly. Good luck to our students and their teachers, Jackie Rielly and Renee Davey as they venture to John Cain Arena for the rehearsals on Thursday and Friday and the big performances (matinee and evening) on Saturday. We know you will all do our school, and yourselves, proud!!

Have a great weekend (and watch those Magpies – they always swoop in September!!)

Kind regards,

Bill Kersing

A stunning work in progress Across the week we have enjoyed witnessing the gradual development of our mural on the Lascelles Ave ramp. It has certainly created a lot of interest and many positive comments. The artist, Hayden Dewar, is truly talented. We look forward to seeing it when completed next week.

Working bee this Sunday We look forward to seeing as many people as possible this Sunday for our working bee. There are a range of tasks to be completed, catering to all skill levels. Please come along for whatever time you can spare and enjoy a relaxed morning with other families and staff.

Have a great week.

RU OK? DAY R U OK? Day in 2025 is today, Thursday 11 September. This is Australia's national day for inspiring and empowering people to have meaningful conversations and start a dialogue with those around them who might be struggling with life's ups and downs. The theme for 2025 is ‘Ask R U OK? Any Day’, emphasizing that connecting with others and having these conversations is important year-round.

Remember, Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day. A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it is a friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day. By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what is really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you are someone they can talk to.

At Viewbank Primary School we are supporting our friends, classmates and colleagues by asking R U OK? Any Day.

ALLERGIES AND MEDICATION Spring is definitely in the air, along with pollen! This has also meant we have had an increase in the number of students attending our First Aid Room with seasonal allergies – puffy eyes, runny noses and the occasional rash. We do not have allergy medication available for students to use so if your child requires / may require allergy medication, please provide in-date medication in its original packaging and complete the Administration of Medication Policy Form here https://www.viewbankps.vic.edu.au/s/Administration-of-Medication-Policy-zfy3.pdf. Doing this in advance will help speed up the process if your child requires assistance and is unwell.

You can find all of our policies here: https://www.viewbankps.vic.edu.au/forms-policies

Have a great weekend!

Year 3/4 Hoop Time On Friday last week, the Year 3/4 Hoop Time teams competed at Diamond Valley Stadium. It was a very successful day for the school with our Rookies team winning every game to finish Premiers, our All Star Boys and Future Stars teams finishing the day as Runners Up and our All Star Girls team finishing 3rd. Our students did their very best all day and followed the school values. A special thanks to our coaches Michael Finn, Justin Beilin, Sahil Matta and Lucas Prell for not only their efforts on the day, but kindly donating their time to train the teams in the lead up to the big day.

Science Show On Tuesday we had ‘Dave’ from MadAboutScience perform some amazing experiments to celebrate the wonderful world of Science.

The theme was Cosmic Chemistry and it was great to have so many students answer questions correctly on all things science. Please enjoy having a look at some of the photos we took on the day to celebrate how fun science can be. Thank you to all of the students for their wonderful behavior and showing our schools values.
