Weekly Newsletter wEST mEADOWS - 29th November 2024

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

At the end of last week, our Year 6 class went on a fantastic trip to Crucial Crew where they learnt lots of important information from the emergency services about how to keep safe, including online safety. The children were wonderful representatives for the school and had a great day! In all classes, we learn through our PSHE and Computing Curriculums about keeping safe online, including the age limits for different social media sites, what information is not safe to share and how to identify safe and unsafe websites. Lots more information for parents can be found on our E-Safety Page on the school website.

Christmas Dinner:

Our Christmas dinner is on Thursday 5th December. Children can wear Christmas jumpers or Christmas clothes for the day (with non school uniform). We would ask that you please pre-order the Christmas dinner on Parent Pay before the day to help Mr Steads in the kitchen know how many children we are catering for. Remember all children in F2, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school dinner each day so this is a great chance to try one!

Christmas Fair:

A reminder that our Christmas Fair is on Thursday 5th December from 2:00pm. Children can be collected to go to the fair from classroom doors at 2pm. Any children not collected will go to the F2 classroom for some fun activities but unfortunately will not be able to go around the fair until an adult collects them. If you collect later than 2pm please go to the F2 classroom door. Miss Marsh will be selling raffle tickets on the playground next week for anyone who would like to purchase some! We have some great prizes donated by local businesses.

Cake/Bun Donations:

If anyone would like to donate any cakes or buns for the Christmas Fair, these can be brought into school on Wednesday or Thursday next week. Refreshments will be sold in Year 6 during the Christmas Fair.

Pick up/Collection Times:

Could we please remind all parents and families that school ends each day at 3:15pm and that parents should not arrive or queue too early at the gate where the ramp is. This ramp is located very near to where our EYFS children play and learn in the FS playground so we would ask that you do not start queuing at the ramp before 3:00pm to enable our youngest children to focus on their learning.

Concert Tickets:

Concert tickets will go on sale on Monday 2nd December on Arbor for this year’s performances. Due to the number of children involved in our Key Stage 2 concert, tickets will initially be limited to 2 per child to ensure all families get a change to come and watch. We will then email out if there are any additional tickets by Wednesday 11th December. For the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 concerts we will not be setting a limit. Tickets will be £1 per ticket.

School Car Park:

We have an increasing number of parents and other relatives parking in the school car park. Please can we remind you that unless you have permission from school, you should not use this car park as it is not safe for children or staff to be crossing the car park or road directly outside school if there are lots of vehicles pulling out. Many thanks for your support with this.

Attendance Matters!

Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to be good attendance.
