The perfect weather for outdoor learning

This week, our children have fully embraced the beautiful weather and our teachers have certainly made the most of this opportunity to learn outside. From, drama to maths and even our science lessons have been outside in the treehouse. Our Pre-Prep children have also enormously enjoyed making beautiful rainbow collages and sun traps to bring the sunshine into the classroom.

Prep 8 Humanities Presentations

Humanities at Hatherop is divided into five C’s: Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Curiosity, and Communication. It's a contemporary curriculum aimed at challenging pupils to be ready for the real world while also preparing them for Senior Schools.

In the Upper School, pupils gain valuable experience, striking a significant balance by understanding the importance of essay writing, building self-esteem through various skills such as presentations and debating, and honing their abilities through research and analysis. Our Humanities assessment encompasses presentations, projects, educational visits, exams, creative elements, and presentations.

Recently, our Prep 8 pupils completed their final Humanities assessment by presenting their projects on the environment to their peers in Prep 7 and 8. They were given the theme of ‘the environment’ and were encouraged to explore it in any way they wished, delving into topics that intrigued them, enhancing their knowledge, and strengthening their presentation skills. Although challenging, the children have expressed how valuable they found the experience and how proud they are of their achievements.

They will share their presentations and findings with their parents at the end of their exam week in June in an exhibit style, allowing them to showcase the excellent work they have completed.

The year group has worked exceptionally hard and should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
