2025 State of the City
Join us on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 5:30 p.m. at the Historical Society of Temple City Woman’s Club Hall, located at 9704 Woodruff Ave. for the 2025 State of the City Address! The evening begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by Mayor Tom Chavez's speech at 6:30 p.m.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting
Join us for the Area 2 Neighborhood Watch Meeting on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Temple City High School. This is an opportunity for residents to connect with local law enforcement and our Public Safety team to discuss area-specific crime trends and prevention strategies. Enjoy a free dinner while you engage in this important conversation about community safety.

Spring Camp Registration
Looking for something fun and exciting to do this spring break? Children ages 5-12 can join the Spring Day Camp and participate in various fun and engaging activities including arts and crafts, games, enrichment projects, sports, and a field trip! This year's program will run from 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the week of March 24th – 28th at Live Oak Park. Registration is $146 for the one-week session. Registration opens on February 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

Older American of the Year – Accepting Nominations!
Nominate an older adult who is deserving of the 2025 Older American Award! The nominee must be at least 60 years of age and a Temple City resident. You can submit the form online or in person at the Live Oak Park Community Center. You can also pick up nomination forms from the Community Center or City Hall.

Temple City’s Got Talent
It's time for 2025 Temple City's Got Talent auditions! Please come prepared with an audition that is 1-3 minutes. This year will include three age groups 6-11 years, 12-17 years, and 18 + years. Make sure to audition for your chance to win a trophy and an opportunity to perform at one of our Summer Concerts in the Park. The Talent Show will take place on March 29, 2025.

Save the Date – Temple City Pickleball Tournament
Temple City is hosting the first ever Temple City Pickleball Tournament coming up on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Live Oak Park. This community tournament features a mixed doubles format with pool play and then a single elimination championship.

January 2025 Department Report
The Community Development Department’s January 2025 report indicates continued growth in building activity compared to the same period last year.
Building permit valuations in January 2025 reached $3,444,423, a 77% increase compared to January 2024. Total building permit fees collected rose by 100%, with $199,872.90 collected in January. The number of permits issued increased by 58%, with 242 permits granted compared to 153 in January 2024. Notable permits included a new two-story dwelling on Olive Street and multiple accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
The Planning Department received several applications in January, with the majority for ADUs. Additionally, a conditional use permit was submitted for the expansion of a day spa on Temple City Boulevard.
One new business license was issued in January 2025 for ITaiwan Foods, a retail establishment selling packaged foods located at 5781 Rosemead Blvd.
Community Preservation opened 141 new cases in January, similar to last year’s 145 cases. Of these, 52% were proactively initiated by inspectors and 28% resulted from public reports. A total of 142 cases were closed, an increase from 109 cases closed in January 2024.
