About Me
Welcome! My name is Carter Gledhill, a broadcaster, content creator, graphic design, writer, student-athlete, baseball card collector, and sports fanatic from Arlington Heights, Illinois.
I’ve enjoyed broadcasting a variety of collegiate and professional athletic events since my first year of college. Time flies when you’re having fun, as I will be graduating from Concordia University Chicago with a degree in Communications/Media and a minor in Journalism, in May 2023.
Every opportunity to put on the headset and broadcast a game is a blessing. Not many people have had the opportunity to play and broadcast sports in college, and I tap into this experience when I deliver a fan-first broadcast.
From a NCAA Division III university to a baseball field in smalltown central Wisconsin for a summer, the headset has taken me on a wild and eventful adventure. I cherish each stop along the way, as I pursue my goals of broadcasting MLB baseball and the best collegiate athletics has to offer.
Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and historic Witter Field was my home for the summer of 2022. I served as the TV broadcaster and assisted in media relations for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League. I called all 36 home games, three home playoff games, and had the tremendous opportunity to lead the broadcast team of the 2022 NWL Home Run Challenge. It was an unforgettable summer, as the team went 57-15 and shattered serveral records. I’m honored to return to the broadcast booth for the 2023 season and watch the best college baseball players in the summer.
My broadcast journey started in River Forest, Illinois in the fall of 2019. As a member of the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference, CUC has an undergraduate enrollment of 1,700 students with 19 athletic teams. Why do I mention this? The small campus and family atmosphere shaped me into the broadcaster and person I am today.
As a freshman, I created and hosted the Cougar Pregame Show for all home football games. When basketball season rolled around, I served as the color commentator for the 2019-20 season, while learning from some of the best broadcasters in the area. Since 2021, I’ve served as the voice of the Cougars, broadcasting football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and softball (when I’m not playing baseball).
When COVID-19 shut down the nation in the spring of 2020, I still found projects to keep me busy and develop my content creation skills. With the Cougar Playbook Podcast, I interviewed coaches, players, and members of CUC’s athletic department to fill the void of fandom in the absence of competition.
My first broadcast experience in minor league baseball came with the Joliet Slammers. I served as the primary color commentator for the 2020 season and wrote the game recaps. I was lucky enough to return for a full season in the Frontier League in 2021. This allowed me to host a pregame show and serve as an in-game reporter.
