A Three-Night Journey Through Scotland's Spirit
January 2, 2026. . . Aberfeldy, Scotland. Dun Aluinn, Scotland’s premier exclusive-use hotel, invites guests to immerse themselves in an unforgettable three-night whisky journey through the heart of the Highlands. The Dun Aluinn Whisky Experience offers private access to three world-renowned distilleries — Dewar’s, Blair Athol, and The Glenturret — blending Scotland’s finest craftsmanship, cuisine, and countryside into one luxurious escape.
The Journey
DAY ONE — Arrival & Dinner at Dewar’s Distillery
The experience begins just steps from Dun Aluinn at the historic Dewar’s Distillery, founded in 1898. Guests are greeted by the stirring sound of bagpipes before enjoying an exclusive private dinner within the distillery museum. The evening concludes with a rare whisky tasting in The Secret Room, a hidden chamber deep within the distillery, reserved for the most discerning whisky enthusiasts.
Guests will discover how Master Blenders craft depth and consistency in every expression, exploring the distinctive flavour profiles that define each whisky. They will then create their own bespoke Blended Scotch Whisky to take home.
DAY TWO — Blair Athol Distillery, Blair Castle & Dinner at Castle Menzies
After a seasonally inspired breakfast by The Dun Aluinn Team, guests' journey to Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry for in-depth tour of the distillery followed by a tutored tasting of five Blair Athol single malts, including one drawn straight from the cask and the 23-year-old expression. Following the tasting you will retire to the Mash Tun Bar, where you will sample specifically tailored to your chosen flavour profiles. The afternoon features a lite lunch and private tour of Blair Castle, home to the Atholl family for over seven centuries. Followed by leisure time to explore Aberfeldy’s charming cafés and shops. As night falls, guests experience a candlelit haunted tour and dinner at Castle Menzies, steeped in centuries of Highland history.
A professional storyteller will lead you by candlelight through this forbidding fortress, weaving tales of its dark history and the spirits still said to prowl its dimly lit corridors. After the tour, dinner in front of the ancient kitchen’s roaring fire will help cast off the chill followed by a warming dram, a whisky tasting in the castle’s jail led by Maclean and Bruce.
DAY THREE — Glenturret Distillery & Dinner at Lalique
After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a guided walk, to the famous Birks of Aberfeldy. On Dun Aluinn’s doorstep, the spectacular waterfall walk was immortalized by Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns and his statue can be seen looking out over the gorge.
Guests will then depart mid-afternoon for The Glenturret Distillery, Scotland’s oldest working distillery (est. 1763), for a very special evening that begins with a private Whisky Maker’s Tour followed by an exclusive dining experience.
The Glenturret Tour is a journey through the distillery’s long and remarkable history. It explains the whisky making process and why, at Glenturret they embrace the ethos ‘by hand and heart’. Guests will create their own whisky miniature to take home and after the tour sample a range of rare 30-year-old malts in the private tasting room.
The journey culminates in an exquisite multi-course tasting dinner at the two Michelin-starred Lalique Restaurant* (paid directly to restaurant), where modern artistry meets tradition against the serene backdrop of the River Turret. Overlooking the historic still houses and the tumbling waters of the river, this intimate restaurant presents a highly creative, cosmopolitan tasting menu.
DAY FOUR — Breakfast & Departures
After breakfast, guests may opt for a local guided walk or one of Dun Aluinn’s bespoke Highland experiences, such as fishing or canoeing, before departure. Private transfers to the airport or onward Scottish destinations conclude this extraordinary whisky odyssey.
