Speaking of the flu...The Pender County Health Department (PCHD) is once again partnering with Pender County Schools to offer the annual influenza vaccine to students in grades K-12 and school staff.๐ This convenient opportunity allows students to receive their flu shot during the school day, with parental consent. ๐ Exciting news for Rocky Point Elementary School! The Landfall Foundation Board of Directors has awarded a grant of $9,250 for their โRising to Our Potentialโ project, thanks to the hard work of Ms. Laura Black! ๐ This grant will allow us to purchase new choral risers, a fantastic improvement since our current risers are mismatched and well-worn. This upgrade will enhance both safety and capacity for our students! ๐ถ๐#OnePender

From Cape Fear Elementary - Completing an investigation about the properties of ice and water in order to compare and contrast solids and liquids

From Topsail Middle - Mrs. Gleason and Mrs. Losey 7th grade science classes worked on their " Weather In Motion Projects" this week. Students used a sphero robots to model the movement of air masses and fronts across a weather map. Then, created a weather broadcast to explain how the different weather systems will impact daily life in a particular area in the US.
From Pender High - Congratulations to our JROTC Raider Mix team. They won first place in the East Surry meet. They are now qualified for Best of the Best competition in the spring.
From Pender Early College - Thanks to all of our students who helped support the Safe Haven fundraising event for Domestic Violence Prevention in Pender County last night at Oval and Ale in Hampstead! From Heide Trask High - Our marching band had outstanding performances at the Monarch Invitational at Northside High School. Here are the events in which they placed: 3rd place in Drum Major, Color Guard and Music Performance, 2nd place in Percussion, and 1st place in Visual Effect and General Effect. We also got 1st place overall in Class 1A.
