FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

The gospel reading for the first Thursday of Lent from the gospel of Luke reminds us of the importance of living a life of faith and virtue, even when it is difficult or unpopular. Jesus' call to discipleship involves self-denial and taking up one's cross daily. This means embracing the difficulties and challenges that come with following Christ, even if it involves personal sacrifice. Bishop Barron’s reflection included a call to “crucify your ego” to follow Jesus. This Lent, let’s focus on taking up our crosses with grace each day.

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“‘If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me….’"

-Luke 9:23

BLUEJAY BASH -MARCH 9TH

Our Bluejay Bash Committee is hard at work to make this year's event the best yet.

What is Bluejay Bash? A family friendly event on March 9, 2024 at Wilderness Gun Club. We feature a clay shoot, anything over rice Cajun Cook Off, raffle, auction, BINGO, and a GIANT youth entertainment area. Last year's event hosted over 400 attendees. We hope you're making plans to join us this year.

Morning and Afternoon “Walker” Parking

Now that the rear lot of the church has been reopened, we are reminding everyone that it should be used for morning and afternoon parking for students who are “walkers.” Parents may not park in front of the school or the PLC at these times as it disrupts car line traffic flow and blocks access for those who need to get to the PLC, Chapel, and Church. Thanks in advance for your cooperation as we work to return to our original procedures.

Running Club

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found area is full of outer wear, water bottles, lunch bags, etc. Please take the time to look through it for any item that may belong to your child.

Safe Environment

The next Safe Environment Initial Training session will be held on Wednesday, February 28th at 12:00pm. Anyone who will be volunteering their time on our school or church campus, (coaching, chaperoning field trips, vacation bible school, nursery, etc.) MUST attend an in-person initial training. Please register through this link at your earliest convenience.

In an effort to improve our athletic programs at St. Cecilia, it was felt that a comprehensive athletic handbook was needed. This handbook affects players, coaches, parents, and fans. Parent/guardian completion of this form and adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the handbook are requirements for participation in athletic programs at St. Cecilia School. The link below will take you to the handbook. It is also on the school website for reference as well. Thank you all for your continued support of SCS Athletics.

For those that have already completed the acknowledgement form, and want to refresh themselves on the rules and regulations, please follow the link below.

We are so proud of our SCS 7/8th Grade football, 5th Grade White and 7th Grade volleyball teams' fantastic accomplishments this fall. We can now officially celebrate our championships in volleyball and football by purchasing apparel from Action Specialties. These are school approved and can be worn as part of the school uniform. There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!

Thank you for your support of SCS Athletics! To keep up with the schedule for our Bluejays, please follow the link below. Admission into League games are $6 for adults and $1 for kids. SCS staff and students are admitted free.
