Summer Days with Coo (2007): One day, Koichi Uehara, a fourth-grader living in the suburbs of Tokyo, picks up a fossil that looks like a large stone while on his way home from school. To his surprise, he has picked up a baby Kappa (a Japanese mythical water creature), who has been asleep underground for the past 300 years. Koichi names this baby creature โ€œCooโ€ and brings him to live with his family, and soon the two are inseparable friends. However, trouble abounds as Coo struggles to adjust to life in suburban Tokyo, and begins to miss his family, leading Koichi and Coo to embark on a summer road trip adventure in search of other Kappa.

When the Beat Drops (2018): Drop into the electric and subversive underground dance scene known as bucking. As voguing exploded out of the ballroom scene of NYC, bucking was boldly pioneered in the clubs of the Deep South as a new form of self-expression. WHEN THE BEAT DROPS presents a fresh glimpse into the magnetic artistry and flair behind this emerging dance culture. In his feature debut, famed choreographer and filmmaker Jamal Sims, who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and RuPaulโ€™s Drag Race, illuminates the warm-hearted and fierce queer black performers who make up one of the leading โ€œbuckingโ€ groups in the city of Atlanta. As they train for their biggest competition yet, they face the risk of losing their jobs and family to compete at the top levels of this dance scene.

The Secret of Kells (2009): Young Brendan lives in a remote medieval outpost under siege from barbarian raids. But a new life of adventure beckons when a celebrated master illuminator arrives from foreign lands carrying an ancient but unfinished book, brimming with secret wisdom and powers.

The Last Unicorn (1982): A brave unicorn and a magician fight an evil king who is obsessed with attempting to capture the world's unicorns.

This Beautiful Fantastic (2016): A contemporary fairy tale revolving around the unlikely of friendship between a reclusive young woman with dreams of being a childrenโ€™s book author and a cantankerous widower, set against the backdrop of a beautiful garden in the heart of London.

The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (1995): Randy is a low economic class lesbian living with other lesbians including her aunt. Evie is a wealthy, popular girl with a boyfriend. When Evie befriends Randy, she begins to feel a passion for her she's never felt before.

Welcome to the Space Show/Uchรป shรด e yรดkoso (2010): With an intergalactic cast of thousands, Koji Masunariโ€™s colorfully explosive debut feature sets a new high for visual spectacle and sheer inventiveness of character design โ€“ in what has to be one of the most gleefully surreal depictions of alien life forms ever portrayed in cinema.

Escape from Powell Library!

Find your way out of this virtual escape room! ๐Ÿ”‘

It's the night before the beginning of Finals Week in Powell Library. Even though you're on your third cup of Stressbusters coffee, you can't stop yawning. You're about to break out the Yerba Mate and maybe take a scooter back to the Hill, but your eyelids keep getting heavier and heavier. You figure a nap can't hurt, so you curl up in the nearest chair...

When you wake up, you're alone and the library is dark. Apparently, even the echo of the midnight yell couldn't wake you. Your cell phone and laptop are both dead, and no one is present at the CLICC desk to loan you a charger. You try the doors, but they're locked! The only light in the entire library is the blue glow from the screen of the computer behind the checkout desk...

Get lost (and then find yourself) in a good book! ๐Ÿ“•

Superwomen investigates how and why female superhero characters have become more numerous but are still not-at-all close to parity with their male counterparts; how and why they have become a flashpoint for struggles over gender, sexuality, race, and disability; what has changed over time and why in terms of how these characters have been written, drawn, marketed, purchased, read, and reacted to; and how and why representations of superheroes matter, particularly to historically underrepresented and stereotyped groups.

Squire by Sara Alfageeh, Nadia Shammas

From two incredible rising talents comes the fantasy graphic novel Molly Knox Ostertag calls "instantly compelling." Aiza has always dreamt of becoming a Knight. Ravaged by famine and mounting tensions, Bayt-Sajji finds itself on the brink of war once again, so Aiza can finally enlist in the competitive Squire training program. It's not how she imagined it. Aiza must navigate new friendships, rivalries, and rigorous training under the unyielding General Hende, all while hiding her Ornu background. In this breathtaking and timely story, Aiza will have to choose, once and for all: loyalty to her heart and heritage, or loyalty to the Empire.

Far sector by N.K. Jemisin

The first murder in 500 years. Twenty billion suspects. One Hope. The City Enduring, a booming metropolis at the edge of the universe, hasn't experienced a violent crime in generations. The Emotion Exploit has erased its citizens' full range of feelings, allowing three resident races to overlook their turbulent history and coexist peacefully--until now. Rookie Green Lantern Sojourner "Jo" Mullein is still adjusting to her assignmnet to protect this strange world when a brutal crime rattles its social order, threatening to undo centuries of controversial progress. As the populace rises up against the legacy of the Emotion Exploit and leaders grapple for power under threat of a new war, Jo must rely on her unique instincts--as a Green Lantern and the only human in this sector--to solve the crime and guide the City Enduring toward a more promising future.
